    Alaska Camps - Image 1

    Beschreibung

    Important - Required Library!

This scenery requires that the following libraries be installed!

This addon is compatible with MSFS 2024, however some objects may be sunk into the ground or floating due to terrain displacement changes in 2024!

Alaska Camps is a small project I started a while back to add some fictional / semi-fictional camp sites to the Matanuska-Susitna Valley / Denali Park area of Alaska.

I have been holding off on release for a while as this package was part of a video series I was working on (The first 3 build videos linked below). However, I have been wrapped up in other projects and not able to find much time to continue that series as of yet, so I have opted to go ahead and release the 3 locations as is.

This package will evolve, eventually. Until then, enjoy the few locations! All are marked by POI indicators in the sim.

    • North River Camp - Gravelbar upriver from Talkeetna. Plenty of landing/parking space. Challenge: 1/10
    • Tokositna Glacier Camp - At the foot of the Tokositna Glacier. Short, slightly curved landing strip (Exists IRL) surrounded by shrubs. Challenge: 7-8/10
    • Peter's Creek Camp - Down-hill approach into a valley. Landing on uneven vehicle trail. Challenge: 6/10.

You can view my Let’s Build series playlist here:

    Installation

The included "esd-alaska-camps" folder should be placed into your MSFS "Packages\Community" folder. The scenery will load the next time you start Microsoft Flight Simulator.

    NOTAMs

ORBX Alaska Mesh Compatibility - I would recommend to not use the ORBX Alaska mesh with these campsites. The ORBX mesh has a high level of terrain terracing which can make off-airport operations in most areas a nightmare. Most of these locations are affected by that and may be difficult to land at.

I love this! It'd be great to see the project worked on some more, especially in the era of MSFS 2024 ;-)

Possibly. I honestly haven't thought about or been to any of these since I updated it last. I'm not even sure if they are still decent after SU16 or in 2024. Maybe I will come back and expand on it some time in the future. At least give it a once over for compatibility when I find some time.

    Do these airstrips have designations?

    Hello,

I have added them as POI markers only. I don't have any plans of turning them into fictional airports. Runways for some of these spots would add complications. Mostly with unintended affects to terrain.

I will work on adding some more documentation and coordinates though so they can be easier to locate for planning purposes.
