Selecting the Proper Category for Your Upload

Choosing the correct category ensures your upload is discoverable and properly indexed.

Selecting the correct category is essential for visibility, search accuracy, and efficient moderation. Addons must always be categorized based on what they technically are, not on the aircraft or brand they relate to.

    Aircraft and Aircraft Enhancements

The Aircraft category is reserved exclusively for complete, flyable aircraft packages. If your upload contains a standalone aircraft that can be installed and operated independently, it belongs here. Liveries, performance tweaks, sound packs, documentation, or configuration files must not be uploaded under Aircraft.

Aircraft Enhancements are modifications that require an existing aircraft to function. If your file improves, modifies, or adjusts an already released aircraft, it belongs in the Aircraft Enhancements category. This includes flight model changes, physics adjustments, system modifications, sound enhancements, and other performance-related improvements. The decisive factor is dependency: if the base aircraft is required, the file is an enhancement, not an aircraft.

    Aircraft Liveries

Aircraft Liveries are exclusively for repaints and texture modifications. Any airline livery, fictional paint scheme, or special color design must be uploaded under Liveries. If a dedicated livery category for a specific aircraft is not available, select “Other Liveries”. Liveries must never be uploaded under Aircraft or Aircraft Enhancements.

    Airports

The Airports category is strictly for airport-related content. This includes airport scenery, terminal models, runway changes, taxiway adjustments, parking layouts, and other airport-specific modifications. If the content is limited to a specific airport environment, it belongs here and not under general scenery.

    Scenery Enhancements

Scenery Enhancements cover modifications outside airport boundaries. This includes city enhancements, landmarks, regional improvements, terrain modifications, and broader environmental additions. If the upload enhances the world rather than a specific airport, it should be categorized under Scenery.

Everything Else: Checklists, Custom Views, Applications...

Utilities (Miscellaneous), User-Content and so on are intended for files that do not directly modify aircraft or scenery. This includes checklists, documentation, camera presets, external tools, configuration utilities, and similar content.

Camera view presets must be uploaded under Custom Views, not under Aircraft.

As a practical example, a file titled “Checklist for Fenix A320” does not belong under Aircraft Liveries or under the aircraft itself. The correct category is Checklists, with the appropriate aircraft affiliation set to Fenix A320. The category is determined by the file type, while the aircraft selection serves only as affiliation metadata.
