This application was created to save the state of an aircraft in MSFS 2020 in order for it to be restored for the next flight allowing the user to begin where they left off. It will capture and reset the following data:
- Com 1 and 2, Active and Standby frequencies
- Nav 1 and 2, Active and Standby frequencies
- Adf Active and Standby frequencies
- OBS 1 and 2 setting
- ADR Card Setting
- Fuel amount (gallons) in left and righ tanks
- Fuel Selector switch setting
- Trim Setting
- Aircraft Location (Lat/Long)
- Aircraft Alititude
- Aircraft Heading
- Kohlsman (Barometer) Setting
- Heading Bug Indicator
- Flaps configuration
- Parking Break On/Off
Additional optional settings:
- Master Battery
- Master Alternator
- Avionics Master
- Nav Lights
- Beacon Light
- Landing Light
- Taxi Light
- Strobe Light
- Panel Lights
- Cabin Lights
- Logo Lights
- Wing Lights
- Recognition Lights
The data will be saved for each plane as defined by the plane Title from the aircraft.cfg file.
To install just unzip to any desired folder. Run by clicking on AircraftState.exe
I wrote this application for my own use as I like to continue my flights from one place to another with different planes on different routes as well as to learn the SimConnect interface. If time permits or I move into more complex aircraft I may add more data, but I don't have a lot of free time and prefer to spend it flying rather than coding. Even in its current limited state, I have found it very useful and thought others might as well. The application has been tested with the Steam Version of the Cessna 172 and the plane Bonanza G36. It should work with any GA aircraft without issues. I do not fly airliners and no testing has been done in this area, but for the given data, it should work.

Another parameter I should have loved : day and time of the day saved too. Don't know if it is possible
Last but not least : it seems not recommended to begin a flight anywhere before "send to sim", It seems that altitude is not saved so the difference make a crash of the plane at loading...

I think I need this but need a little more direction as to how to run the software and when, is this integrated in the game tool bar or run outside the sim? I have an issue after I save my flights and then reload them from the .FLT in game, the tool menu is never available and other things don't work. I'd love to save the plane state with fuel etc, like what looks like your program does, so Im very excited to give this a try.
Right now, Im landed in the water in my Kodiak 100 Float version, next to one of the Hawaiian islands. I just downloaded you program but have not installed it yet. Does it have an installer or do I just run it from anywhere? Do I put it in my community folder? Can I use it on my current last saved flight, or should I start new?
So I landed the plane, and powered down the engines and avionics. Is this when i run the Save to Sim? Do I also save the flight in MSFS? Then when I start playing again, what is the process? Do I load the MSFS save or Do I need to load into the world somewhere and then run Send to Sim? Sorry for all the questions. I couldn't get any detailed instructions from the Help file, sorry.

The program doesn't have an installer, and should be extracted to any folder wherever you want. I personally have an MSFS Tools folder (NOT in the community folder, outside of it, could be anywhere) where I have this extracted. You then run the EXE at any point. It should auto-connect to the sim, but you can always click Reconnect of it disconnects for any reason.
When you're done flying, you can then click Save to DB. This will save all of the state information including location to the database, for this specific aircraft. You can actually click Save to DB while in flight, or even turn auto save to db on in the settings if you want it to save automatically.
Next time you run the sim and want to pick back up, you'll load into the aircraft and click Send To Sim.

Keep getting a Error Default Data not saved when i click save to db

If Com1 is 124.5, the app won't save data. This is to avoid defaults overwriting real data, sometimes the Sim does something strange which caused the real data to get overwritten and this is to avoid that issue

Hi. I've been using this tool to continue from one leg to the next of a multi-leg journey. It is working very well for me. If I could ask for one additional feature, I would ask for the ability to save the fuel quantities for the DHC-2 Beaver. The Beaver has front, center, and rear fuel tanks and the quantities are not currently being loaded. Thanks for the consideration.

I don't own that plane and I don't see any Sim variables read/write that data. If anyone has information on that, I would be glad to take a look

please tell me which files these changes are made to? I want to change the cold and dark state of tbm930
1 years ago
There are no files that are changed. The applications injects the settings into the sim. What I do, is let the application save the sate when m y flight ends (it does this automatically) then when I start the next flight, when the flight is loaded, I choose at that point to send the data to the sim and it is where I left it. Then I start the plane and continue.
One caveat is that some planes for some reason don't take some of the settings unless the radios are turned on first, so I usually to that before sending the dats

This is a great little utility, thanks so much! I use the auto-save feature and it works like a charm at the end of a flight. Especially love it for storing radio frequencies and instrument bug positions.
One small suggestion: if the program is left running after a regular flight, and I launch a quick landing challenge or similar (in a different aircraft), after I return to the main menu, my previous aircraft is loaded by the sim in the hangar screen in the background (even with the new SU10 option to turn it off). At this point the utility triggers another autosave, sadly overwriting my aircraft's settings with a fresh, default set of settings. Maybe it could be programmed NOT to autosave if the aircraft's current co-ordinates are exactly 0°N 0°E with 0 feet altitude, or something similar. This is what AircraftState shows at that time.

It is programmed not to autosave if the radios go back to default but it sounds like you have a different use case. I will lookin into this, shouldn't be too hard

This has been such a great addon, but I wonder if you are able to add an option to save battery voltage as well? That could be a nice addition.

Thanks for the comment. Not sure if that value is available, I will take a look when I get a chance. Real job and real life are getting in the way a bit too much right now

I'm finding this to be unreliable. A number of times the aircraft has crashed when sending to a saved location, so I'm no longer using that function.
I believe it is described in the help. I can't control if there is another plane in the location you are moving to. If there is one there, it will crash unfortunately. If anyone knows how to clear the space, I would love to add that. Go to previous location can be useful after a CTD to get back to where you were.

Thank you for this. Love that it saves aircraft location so I can now start wherever I parked.
Using with Just Flight's Arrow III and some of it works but some of it doesn't. Nav 2 shows as 0.00. Doesn't work with any of the radio freqs (using old style radios).

Thanks for you comment. I don't have any pay aircraft so I can't test, however another person commented that it does work with PA28 Arrow by JustFlight. Might be that the different configurations use different variables, but that seems strange to me. I've thought about getting the arrow but am looking to buy a new computer so all funds are going towards that for now. At this point, without owning the plane, unfortunately, I don't think that I am able to do anything about it. The code is open source if someone else wants to try tackling it at this point.

Thanks for the great app.
It works very good and i use it every flight. I tested it with the Asobo Cessnas and the PA28 Arrow by Justflight.
When its possible to add other settings like Lights, Pitot Heat or something it would be great.
Maybe you can add the trim settings for Rudder and Aileron?
Thank you for your comments. I have a homemade cockpit with switches for things like lights, etc. so those are a lower priority for me. I will most likely add them at some point, just need to figure out how to keep the screen from getting out of control. The other trim settings are interesting though. The planes I fly don't use those so I didn't even think of them, but they shouldn't be too difficult to add
