Welcome to Halley VI Research Station, the world's first fully relocatable research station — award-winning architecture on hydraulic legs, designed to be jacked up and towed inland whenever the floating ice shelf beneath it begins to crack. Operated by the British Antarctic Survey on the floating Brunt Ice Shelf, Halley VI is Britain's southernmost research station, studying climate, glaciology and space weather in one of the most hostile environments on Earth.
This add-on expands the default scenery provided by Microsoft / Asobo Studio for the Halley Research Station. It moves the default station to match Halley's current real-world position and orientation, fills out the site with additional scenery objects, and adds the Halley Skiway (EGAH). The position, layout and associated facilities of both station and skiway have been created using a blend of available data, photographic references, and simulation-specific adaptations to ensure a smooth and realistic user experience.
Beyond the runway and apron for the Halley Skiway, this add-on also expands the scenery to include various points of interest:
- the Halley Creek Relief Site, a key resupply location situated northwest of the station at the edge of the Brunt Ice Shelf — where cargo ships offload essential supplies that are then transported inland to Halley
- March Creek — a massive fictional crevasse that is inspired by the real-world 'Chasm 1', which forced an epic station relocation in 2016/2017

It's built to sit alongside Airports of Antarctica, my continent-wide package aiming to create a complete network of Antarctic airfields, skiways and helipads — making the entire continent accessible. Airports of Antarctica covers the continent broadly, this add-on focuses on a single station in detail.

This add-on enhances the default scenery of the Halley Research Station and introduces a custom airfield 'Halley Skiway' (EGAH), modeled after the actual snow runway used by real-world logistics aircraft. It includes detailed layouts, textures, and facilities of the station and skiway to provide an authentic experience for virtual pilots. It also adds custom points of interest across the Brunt Ice Shelf, including the coastal relief site where ships offload cargo for the overland haul to Halley. It is part of the 'Airports of Antarctica' series, a growing network of Antarctic airfields.

This update contains no scenery changes — the manual only. -------------- Manual: Updated various chapters to clearly distinguish between the real-world ice crack 'Chasm 1' (which triggered the relocation of the real-world Halley VI station in 2016/2017) and the virtual 'March Creek', which acts as an in-sim POI and serves as the background story for the virtual station relocation introduced in V1.1. --------- I know a manual-only update one day after V1.2 is unusual. Not sure how many of you read the manual closely, but the previous wording left room for interpretation, and since I aim for accuracy in the background material, I would rather push the correction now than let it sit until the next scenery release. A full rework of the manual is planned for some point down the line — until then, these corrections will have to do. If you already have V1.2 installed, there is nothing you need to do in the sim — just replace the PDF if you want the corrected text.

A realistic recreation of Concordia Station (Dome C) for MSFS2024, with the skiway, the station itself and the surrounding scientific outposts. Fly personnel transport into the heart of the Antarctic plateau, run a medevac in the polar twilight, or simply explore the site. Points of interest include the overland traverse train, the Beyond EPICA drill site and the research zones, all built from research and satellite imagery. ATGD - Gondwana Station & Helipad, Antarctica
The Gondwana Station scenery add-on for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 enhances the Antarctic region with a detailed representation of a small German polar research base in Terra Nova Bay. Designed to integrate with existing scenery such as Zucchelli Station, this add-on provides the setting for self-flown helicopter logistics and science missions — resupply runs from Zucchelli, or transfers of research teams into the mountains — catering to helicopter enthusiasts and those interested in polar exploration. Please note that the helipad's ICAO code (ATGD) is fictional.

On the COMMS side I’m probably not the best person to ask - my focus has been on scenery, and for Antarctic skiways I usually skip ATC since real-world frequencies are rarely published and the default MSFS ATC logic doesn’t map very well to station operations.
If you do manage to figure it out, please let me know - that knowledge might come in handy if I ever decide to add full ATC logic to my add-ons.

One thing: maybe you can make the lighting around the station a bit more "pointy" to specific lightpoles, that would be awesome :)

About your lighting suggestion: as mentioned in the manual, the station is currently based on Microsoft/Asobo’s default scenery, so I can’t directly tweak some of the finer details just yet.
That said, I’m planning to rework the station at some point anyway. I think it’s actually oriented the wrong way right now — it should be East-West, not North-South — and I’ll definitely keep your lighting idea in mind. I’m not a fan of the default lighting either; it’s way too bright and generic for that environment.
That said, it might take a little while before I get to it. Right now I’m focused on building out more missing Antarctic stations — there’s still so much untouched territory in MSFS2024, and I think adding new locations brings more overall value to the community.

Let me know what you think of the new lighting. As I have now completely recreated the station in the scenery (still based on MSFS2024 default assets), it should now be a lot easier to make adjustments in the future.
In the process, I made a couple of other changes to the station as well, in general trying to adapt the scenery more to the real-world Halley VI station.
Feedback is always appreciated.
