Grayling Airport (PAGX) - Image 1

    Beschreibung

Grayling - Iditarod Checkpoint #14 Southern route.   Also is Yukon River Airports in Alaska # 11.

Grayling is a small Athabascan village located on the west bank of the Yukon River, about 18 air miles north of Anvik in Interior Alaska. With a population of around 210 residents, Grayling is part of the Yukon-Koyukuk Census Area and was incorporated in 1969.

The community is deeply rooted in subsistence living, relying on fishing, hunting, and seasonal employment. Many residents are descendants of families who relocated from Holikachuk in the 1960s due to flooding and river access issues. The village is known for its cultural resilience and serves as a checkpoint during the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race on odd-numbered years2.  The airport is vital for transporting mail, supplies, medical services, and passengers, especially during winter when river travel is limited. Its location and layout make it a key logistical node for bush pilots and tribal operations.

    Dimensions: 4000 x 75 feet  (1220 x 23 meters)
    Surface:        Gravel
    Runway:       17 / 35

I’ve included a link to a short video, Wings of the Iditarod that features the Iditarod Airforce.

In order to replicate Iditarod conditions, I recommend setting your Weather parameters to Month = March.  Snow Depth = 29”.  Temperature = 0 degrees.

    Installation:
Copy the airport folder inside of the Zip file into your MSFS Community folder.

This airport was created using Standard Asobo/Microsoft libraries found in the sim.  I also used the FREE “UK2000 Common Objects Library”, and the FREE “Emerald Objects Library” found in the sim Market Place.  If you have not previously installed these libraries in your Community folder, some objects may not be visible in your sim.  Remember, you only must install these one time.  All Microsoft World Updates should be installed also.

There is an Easter Egg installed.

Everything should be fine on 2024. I'd even managed to program in the QOYJY approach for runway 17. But the tent next to the log cabin with the Iditarod sign on it has been turned into a skellington. Do you recognize it?

I have seen that tent anomaly before. I will replace it with a standard tent that works. Thanks for checking.

Hey there! Not sure if this is something on my end, but if I install this airport, MSFS2020 can't seem to locate waypoints such as ZEKAN, QOYJY, OR WIWQO in the FMS. If the airport is disabled, no issues at all.

Have you noticed that at all?

Hi guy! I think I might have found the problem. Using the SDK in the Airport section, under DELETE, I unchecked Waypoint box. Please download my latest PAGX version 2.1 to see if I have fixed it. If so, I have many more UN-DELETEs to do!

@55tom55 Well, we got two of the three! ZEKAN is not showing up, but QOYJY and WIWQO are.

The "missing waypoints saga" grows. I think I have an easy fix for all 80 of my airports (like Grayling) for 2020. 2024 is a whole different story. Would you mind testing Grayling using 2024 if you can?

@55tom55 I've attached a screenshot of the issue to this comment, this also seems to be happening at your Anvik (PANV) and Aniak (PANI) airports on my machine. Hopefully that information helps as your Alaska scenery appears to be top notch at other airports!

Sorry for the long delay. The checkerboard issue you are seeing is due to a missing ground material called LILC_GRAVEL_GROUND. I have replaced it with KTVL_GROUND_SOIL (Lake Tahoe). Download my latest version of PAGX and let me know if the checkerboard issue is fixed.

Hi again smoothflyer. I actually did respond to your comment 7 months ago. I can not reproduce the green and white checkerboard issue, so if you could send me a screenshot, it would help me find the material/texture that is not working on your system. That will give me the name of the library. Without your help, I'm not able to identify the problem.
If there are other users out there that are experiencing this problem, please let me know.
    Thanks and happy flying.

@Karateh, don't waste your time, trying to fix, this scenery, it is unfixable, and as you, see, the author, has NEVER got back to me, concerning the same problems, as you can see, not even 7 months later, my best advice from you, is to just move along, and find much better Alaska scenery ,that actually works, Good Luck

I can't rate your scenery, because all I get is light green and white checkered board, patterns, on the ground. I just did a complete re-install, of MSFS 2020, and added, the required libraries, and your scenery, with all the current updates, from the Market Place. I tried, it twice, to put in just YOUR scenery and libraries, and the same checkerboard scenery, then I just gave up, and took it as a lose, it is a shame, because, the pictures, show, some great scenery.

    Hi smoothflyer.
Sorry to hear you are having a problem with my scenery. Usually, when a checkerboard pattern appears, it indicates a missing material or texture. First, delete this airport. then reinstall it. I am out of town for the next week, but I will have a look at it then.
    Happy flying!

Any fix for this? I appear to be having the same issue of checkerboard textures on the ground and I have gone through the same steps of troubleshooting

    Hello Tom..
Have downloaded and installed the PAGX scenery but none of the buildings show up. The signs are there but not the buildings. I have the latest dependencies installed. Thanks for all the work.

I'm pretty sure all the cabins along the main street are from the Emerald Object Library version 24.3.26. I'll check on the high school.

    Hi Tom..
I deleted the version of EOL 24.3.26 that I had and re-loaded a freshly downloaded version...no luck..
