Welcome to Rudolstadt Groschwitz at the foot of Thuringia Forest. In the early days of air travel the airfield held some importance in passenger transport. Nowadays it's used by gliders, motor gliders and small GA aircraft. It is operated by Flugsportverein 'Otto Lilienthal' Rudolstadt e.V. with a selection of German and Polish glider types as well as a Motorfalke, a Zlin 42 and a Wilga.

Although it's poorly visible from the air, the airfield has a grass runway parallel to the much shorter asphalt 06/24. Glider operations take place only on the grass strip. Winch and aircraft tows are possible in all directions although the terrain is raising slightly when using runway 24. With the heavy DG 1001 glider an airplane tow must be executed on the grass runway only as the asphalt is too short for the tow plane to get airborne. It will abort takeoff right at the end of the asphalt. On grass the takeoff run still takes time but even in light headwinds you will eventually take off and clear the trees just fine.

This scenery depicts all buildings, although nothing is handcrafted. It's shown in it's summer state with gliders being active and lots of people around. I put back the forest west of runway 24 which was partly missing. I also added some dirt bikes on the nearby motocross track.

Winter Edition

Airfields full of glider activities look weird during winter. Not much is going on except for an occasional single engined flight. This alternative version removes all static gliders and summer activities and adds a few people in proper winter clothing. Nobody's gotta freeze.

Installation

Unzip the file into your community folder. You should have all World Updates installed. Install the dependencies as listed below. Some are optional because they account only for a few items.
