    Beschreibung

    Shelter Cove is a community located on the Lost Coast of California.
    I casually hovered over this place in the World Map and some memories kicked in. Was it Flight Unlimited 2? Or some old FS2k4 scenery? I don't remember exactly but I'm happy I found this place again.

    The scenery is wonderful, the default airport rendition is more than passable and, to be honest, there is not much more about the airport besides the runway and a couple of aprons. Less passable were the missing details in the surroundings, namely many missing parts of vegetation, some local shops and the marina and usually that's what these scenarios are about.
    I also added a small construction site that I spotted using street view.

    Sutter County is a nice destination from here as it will take you over the Mendocino National Forest and some other interesting spots like Round Valley Airport, a nice interesting airport surrounded by hills all around that makes for some interesting approaches.

    Be careful the downdrafts while approaching (similar to 2WA1 in WA) and take note of the sectional chart and airport restrictions.

    I'm going to try this for SU8, seems like such a great spot ! Would you recompile it in newer SDK if possible? Seems to work fine in SU8 ..( at least bushflying, I dont know about technical IFR stuff though )

    P.S. (OK, admittedly a SHAMELESS request here...) The Garberville Airport (O16) would make a great companion to this scenery. The default version TOTALLY LACKS a single hangar or building and there are plenty there. A fabulous 10 minute flight is ascending to 3k from O16 over the Kings Range and then cutting power over the sea for steep glide into Shelter Cove!

    Thanks for this quelcertoleo. I'm a big fan of your all your sceneries and the prolific amount of work you've engaged in to bring this and so many other areas like Washington State's many rural airports to life.

    Shelter Cove has been a favorite for me going back years through many FS platforms. I lived over the hill to the east in Garberville for many years and visited Shelter Cove often. Having those near-field tree lines filled out and the extra ramp parking and marina storage details in place really helps the scenery. I was surprised you didn't add a lighthouse on the Bing footprint for it. It's such a prominent landmark when approaching from the south. It's a rather small one at that, but I assume there might be something close in the scenery libraries? Either way, Thanks so much!

    There should be a lighthouse, I placed one right next to the marina. You can see it in one of the screenshots, the one with the savage on short final, the lighthouse can be seen just below the airplane, try to zoom a bit the image.
    I got it from studying google and bing maps.
    Let me know if you don’t have it because that could mean that I made a mistake.

    I updated all my scenery packs just in case it was that (Daves, Mikes, SDR, etc.) and also downloaded your new 1.0.2, and now there's a short cylindrical concrete looking structure on the lighthouse footprint that only renders the facing half with no lighthouse or roof on top of it.     AHA! I figured it out and it was my bad! I'd temporarily removed Asobo's USA UPDATE POI folder from the sim as it was conflicting with the Monument Valley addon. Totally spaced that I hadn't put it back. The lighthouse object you used was likely from that update. Adding it back added your lighthouse back. And BTW, it's very creative the way you used the concrete cylinder to make the Asobo version more closely resemble the 0Q5 lighthouse. Nice. So SORRY if this caused you any any extra consternation!     Yes, that’s the lighthouse. It comes straight out of Alcatraz which, you know, is part of the US Update.
    I should have specified that the US Poi must be installed, I gave for granted that most user would have it. I’ll add a note to the description.
