Notice: This improvement does not include any files from Northern Sky Studio's PATK Talkeetna, Alaska scenery. It is designed to add to the scenery without producing conflicts. It will also work as a stand-alone, which should integrate with the default PATK scenery, as well as other PATK addons (Though not yet tested).
Welcome to Talkeetna Alaska!
Shortly after the sim first came out, I created my freeware rendition of the Talkeetna Airport, which was based on Bing's outdated imagery. I had plans to build a payware version of Talkeetna. but other projects came first and in that time Northern Sky Studio brought their version over from X-Plane.
I then intended to build an up-to-date freeware version that was custom modeled with the works, but with other projects still consuming my time, and with the more time that passed, I figured it was better to support North Sky Studio by purchasing their version (which is quite affordable) and spend my time elsewhere. However, the NSS rendition lacks many other improvements I did to the area in my freeware PATK addon, so I decided to build a personal addon to bring many of those improvements over. I have also since made some additional improvements to the NSS scenery, such as improving vegetation placement, removing road overlay textures and replacing the static flags with the dynamic "Windy Things" library model.
Current Improvements
- Adds additional vegetation and shrubs around the airport.
- Adds Christiansen Lake (AK8) improvements from my PATK freeware (Can be disabled by removing AK8.bgl)
- Adds missing rail bridge (Requires Emerald Object Library).
- Cleans up stray vegetation, mainly along the river and railroad tracks.
- Removes road overlay texture around PATK airport ramp and along the Talkeetna Village Strip runway.
- Replaces static DHC-2 Beaver models with default Beaver (K2 repaint courtesy of Kelvo907).
- Replaces static flags with animated model.
Requirements
Installation
The included "z-esd-nss-patk-talkeetna-improvement" folder should be placed into your MSFS "Packages\Community" folder. The scenery will load the next time you start Microsoft Flight Simulator.

Normally you would have all of the gravel bars I uncovered on the river as well, but that is currently removed pending a fix from Asobo.

Once Asobo fixes this game-breaking issue, I will add them back, but there still is no timeline on when this will happen.
Until then, I have reactivated the scenery and pushed what updates I have for it. At least it will get the other features usable once again.

(Still not fixed as of SU14)
Hello all,
This scenery is currently not functioning correctly after the latest Sim Update. At this time, I highly recommend that you disable the addon until Asobo can provide a fix in a future update.
If you do not disable the addon you will likely experience the following:
- Loading into PATK or a nearby airport may take up to 5 minutes or longer.
- Many terrain issues - holes in the ground may appear nearby and the aircraft may drop to the ground when spawning in.
Asobo are aware of this issue and have added it to their backlog. No timeframe for a fix.

Nice one! One thing: I see red/blue markings on the river sandbanks, looks not very natural?

That's a core sim bug introduced in the last sim update. It only does it along shorelines when the ground is a fairly bright color. So, unfortunately not something I can fix!

Ah clear, now I use Map Enhancement Mod, dont recall which map server I used, so maybe worse with Google than Bing maps.
