Welcome to Italy missions (previously named Rocca Calascio SAR mission)!

Hype Performance Group released a very powerful mission addon which adds the possibility to perform search and rescue and fire fighting missions everywhere, almost making useless to create custom missions.

The idea behind my package is to add a "touristic" aspect to the missions.

The first place in this new package is based at Rocca Calascio, Abruzzo region.
The next mission will be on lake Maggiore area. (WIP)

Rocca Calascio, a little fortress located in Italy, Abruzzo, is a turistic place and has been used as a location for international movies (i.e. Ladyhawke).
Its location is impervious and makes difficult to rescue injured people. The location, between mountains, and the presence of a nearby wood, may result, in hot and dry summers, in the wood catching fire.

This addon adds some visual objects (actually limited to the rocca calascio fortress) and adds two missions which can be performed if you own the Hype H145 Base and Action packs.

Actually two missions are provided:

HEMS mission
Firefighting mission

Brief missions explanation:

HEMS:
A man had an accident with his bike falling down and resulting heavily injured.
Your helicopter is parked at Pescara (LIBP) airport, 
You will take off and rescue the injured man. 
The area does not allow a safe close landing, so the rescue crew man must be hoisted down.
Once on board, the helicopter returns to LIBP. Patient has to be unloaded from helicopter and loaded on the ambulance.
Animations are provided for all those phases.

Unloading will be possible only if engines are at idle or off.

 

FIREFIGHTING:
Fire has been sighted in the wood close to Rocca Calascio. 
Fire is growing and expanding (a random and quite fast fire increase is simulated)
Take off from Pescara and fastly reach the fire area.
The mission map will help reaching the area, the hover format will be used to find the closest water source (Calascio Lake).
Due to its location, the firefighting mission could result quite tricky. Enjoy it!

 

Installation:

1) Remove any previous version of Rocca Calascio SAR mission from the community folder (sar-calascio folder), just to avoid any possible issue;

2) Copy the sar-calascio folder included in the zip file into community folder.

3) For the scenery to work properly, make sure you have the following libraries:

4) Find your h145 action pack folder and enter into the tools folder (...Community\hpg-airbus-h145-ap\Tools)

5) Run: "Update Mission Index.cmd" to allows the mission to be visible on the h145 ipad.

6) Run msfs, select either hems (for HEMS mission) or Firefighting (for firefighting mission) H145 and start the mission (from Pescara LIBP is preferred).

7) Load the mission and start your flight.

8) Follow the instructions.

9) Enjoy it :)

General tips: 

The fires extend from a starting point which is close to a waving man trapped close to it (he maybe is responsable of the situation). The fire started expanding from there. If you follow the same order during extinguishment, relight of extinguished fires will not be possible. 

Other extinguished fires may randomly relight if a nearby fire is still there.

You can tune the mission to your skills by reducing the time from mission beginning to the arrival on the area. 

Fire starts with one or 2 spots only, then it will randomly create a new one and they increase with time. Fastest you reach the area, less you will need to do to extinguish them. Later you arrive, bigger the fire and more the spots will be.
This results in the possibility:
         for beginners: to start the mission when in flight, close to the area;
         for experts: to start the mission from Pescara, taking a coffee, and then departing to the area.
NOTE: If you wait too much fire may reach a level where, also if you're expert, it will be very hard to extinguish all of them. This could be perfect for multiplayer, however I don't know how the multiplayer handles random values on different machines. 

 

Limitations and bugs:

Actually I have troubles making the score system working. So the displayed score will always be 0. It is just a score problem.

The fires displayed on the map will not be displayed as extinguished (maybe only one works actually).

Some animations still need some tuning.
 
A hoisting button may appear, it is under development, so actually it doesn't work.

For the missions, if you have b283 or previous, download the SAR-Calascio 1.2

 

 

2) Installation:

   - Drag and drop the "sar-calascio" folder into the community folder.
         If you have the Hype H145 Base AND Action Pack you can play the mission contained in the hpgmission\Italymissions folder.
    To load the mission on the H145 tablet:
   - Run the "Update Mission Index.cmd loacted in the "hpg-airbus-h145-ap" folder. 

The addon can be installed even without mission. (or the mission without the scenery), both together will improve the experience.

Note for the HPG H145 Action pack:

File editing is not necessary anymore.
The "Update Mission Index.cmd" app must be executed in order to install the mission.
The mission can be found in the tablet map app. It is inside the "Italy missions" folder.
I will place other missions in the same place.
