    MSFS Addons Linker 2020/2024 - Image 1

    Beschreibung

    Hello,

Since version 0.22.x AL now supports both MSFS2020 and MSFS 2024

    • to use it with MSFS2020 launch the MSFS_AddonsLinker.exe file
    • to use it with MSFS2024 launch the MSFS_AddonsLinker_2024.exe file

Note : new versions may introduce new features or important changes, please always check the changelog entries when installing a new version.

The first thing you'll probably do when trying this tool for the first time is move your currently installed addons outside of your 'real community folder' to put them in your new 'custom addon folder'. To avoid problems, please try first with a single addon only to make sure everything works fine for you.It would be sad if you move 200GB and then you notice it does not work for you. Files placed directly in the new folder should always work but, for some users (not the majority) the files moved might get encrypted if you have the MS-Store version so it's worth checking before moving too many files. Thank you.

Another little addons manager. Made to match my own needs and just sharing with the community. The main features are :

    • organize your addons freely in folders and subfolders with no limitations
    • quick activation/deactivation of addons without moving the files on the disk
    • presets management for global activations
    • map screen for addons localisation and activation
    • liveries browser
    • documentation browser
    • content.xml editor (msfs2024 only, will let you disable/enable base content 'streamedpackages' if needed)
    • airport icao scanning and duplicates finder
    • several other utilities to check addons (modellib / materiallib / ...)
    • ability to connect to simulator and visit addons with aicraft teleporting (via the map screen)
    • many more little options here and there ....

    Installation :
    - just extract all the files and drop them in a folder of your choice and run the EXE file

    basic usage :
    - create a folder where you will put your addons, add your addons in there instead of putting them in the community folder, you can create as many subfolder as you want to organize your files efficiently
    - launch the application, in the options screen set your 'addon folder' and your 'community folder'
    - just click on the checkbox to activate/deactivate addons
    - rest should be fairly easy to understand. There are several Youtube videos available that can help, please check them out.

big thanks to everyone who helped me with feedback, tests and ideas !

    Thank you

Love this addon, but noticed today that I'm unable to copy new addons into two of my addons storage folders, Tools and UI. I get a message saying "Your organisation does not allow you to place this file here."

    Hi,
this addon is fantastic. But I haven't found a way to get also the airports displayed in the list which are installed into "Community2024" folder. In settings only the default community folder of MSFS2024 can be selected. Thanks

Thank you for the feedback, appreciated. You are right, only the community folder set in the options screen in displayed in the left panel. I have a test version supporting the 2024 folder but it's not ready to be realeased yet (has a little bug) but hopefully i'll be able to finish that soon (been a bit lazy :-) )

Which path do I use for MSFS 2024's exe.xml? I think I tried both ways but both times it won't autostart my programs that need me to launch an .exe in their mod folder in community.

Hello, i don't understand exactly what you are trying to do. AL has a feature to auto-launch program but it's does not use the exe.xml file. You can edit the exe.xml file to add programs in there but you need to do that manually (like if you haven't AL) or use AL feature to launch additional programs. Feel free to let me know if you need more help because i didn't really understand the issue. Thank you.

so if i use this, i use this program's own autolaunch?
cause previously I used exe.xml, and i was unsure where to put the path to the autolaunch. My custom location with AL, or the original /Community folder?

Absolutely love this tool - as Tyrell said below, it's a non-negotiable addon for me and I would not use MSFS24 without it.

One quick minor issue, i've noticed over the last couple of months that the program will not close when I launch the sim/scripts using the green button in the toolbar. Is there anything i'm doing wrong? The 'auto-close' option is on in the the settings menu. Thanks!

Hello and thank you for the feedback, appreciated ! When you say 'the program will not close', do you mean AL will not close after launching the sim (and you 'checked the close after launch option') .. not sure what might be happening there, was it working before ?

That's correct, AL will not close and I have to manually close it out. This has only recently started happening as it was closing manually before!

    Hi,

First of all, thank you for this fantastic tool. I have been using Addons Linker with MSFS 2024 and it has become an essential part of managing my scenery library.

I have a question regarding duplicate airport detection.

My airports and sceneries are organized by continent and country (for example: Europe/Germany, North America/USA, Asia/Japan, etc.). When I install a new airport, I run an automated script that checks whether an airport already exists. If it does, the old version is deleted before the new one is extracted. This works well.

However, I am trying to identify duplicate airports that do not have the same folder name.

For example, VHHH (Hong Kong) could exist as:

    * iniBuilds VHHH
    * a freeware VHHH
    * another developer's VHHH

All of these packages have different folder names, but they represent the same airport/location.

Is there a way in Addons Linker to:

    1. Detect airports that share the same ICAO/location, even if the folder names are different?
    2. Display only those potential conflicts or duplicates?

My library contains several hundred airports, so manually checking everything is becoming difficult. I would like to focus specifically on airports that may exist more than once.

    One additional question:
Is there an official Discord server, user forum, or community dedicated to Addons Linker?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

    Best regards from Singapore,

    Lutz

Hello and thank you for the feedback, appreciated ! Have you checked the option 'Scan icao / check for duplicates' available in the Tools menu. That option should hopefully do what you want. No there is no discord/forum specific to AL, but feel free to send me a little private message if you need more help. Thank you.

Thank you! A brilliant piece of intuitive software, easy to use, especially when you want to organise you addons properly and locate them outside of the community folder. An added unexpected bonus was the built-in map of airport addons, something I've been looking for before. I know other software has this but you don't need to do anything, no exporting etc - it's all just there!

Thank you for your reply. I am noticing quite a few airports on this site will not appear in Linker properly. I guess it depends upon the file structure for that airport. I have tried installing about 6 airports and only 2 appear in linker with a green dot. TU again.

I also wanted to add I am not seeing Green and Red circles next to the items added to linker. There are links in my Community folder. I noticed some scenery will not show up in linker but appear as invalid. TU again!

Hello, if you don't see the green/red dots, usually it's because your folder is not an addon (does not contain a manifest.json file in its root folder). AL only links addons, in your previous message, you are mentioning GSX config folders, those should not be monitored by AL, they are not addons and they contains 1000 of files slowing things down. In AL options screen (2nd) try to check the option 'hide folders without addons' to see if that changes anything but still if you're talking about GSX folders they really should not be in the folders monitored by AL. Not sure if i understood correctly, if my reply is not clear please send me a screenshot of your options screen (1st tab) and what you see in main screen illustrating your issue. Thank you.

Hello, a very small update but still recommended to all users. [NEW] Optional GSX folder scanning. If enabled (options screen), the column 'Gsx Profile' will show 'Yes' for addons for which you have a GSX profile installed. For this to work you need to use the AL ICAO scanner so that it will then match the ICAO found by AL with the GSX .ini file. Due to the way GSX works, there are some limitations and, to my knowledge, it's not possible to identify exactly if an INI file matches with a specific addon because this is done by GSX only when inside the sim. So with AL, you will just get the information if a GSX profile matches a specific ICAO and, if you have 2 addons for the same ICAO, both will display the value 'Yes'. If you have any idea on how this can be improved let me know, i don't have GSX so my knowledge is limited. As a reminder, you can save the column size/position by using the right click menu 'save columns order/size'. [NEW] New column and filter available on the map screen to show only enabled addons. [FIX] Fixed an issue with the modellib checker if used with native 2024 addons. [FIX] Fixed an issue with the flightplan loading on the map [FIX] Several other minor fixes [REMOVED] Removed the Bing maps because they have been discontinued by Microsoft. Unfortunately, its successor 'Azure map', which technically could be implemented fairly easily inside AL, is now a lot harder to access (credit card and phone number required). It will also probably start charging you if you go over the monthly free limit because they are not rich enough. So well, not really suited for AL :(.. Investigating for possible alternatives, for now you'll have to use the OpenStreetMap provider (or the very 'simple' map if you just need basic localisation). Sorry for that but out of my control. Thank you.
