Just to point out - I'm not the actual author of The Linker. Whilst I *might* be able to help out, Bad2000 is really the person to ask. My guide is simply my "take" on how this [amazing] app can be used in practice. I keep thinking I should really update the doc, but the app itself hasn't changed much over the months - a testament to good design & programming (if it ain't broke etc.). Let me know if there's anything you feel should be included in the guide ;)

Great addon, thank you. Since a few updates ago the Creation Date column is showing empty (it's really useful for me). is there any way to fix it? Thanks

I keep getting the "could not read manifest.json file" error for liveries I download from flightsim.to

Hi there, is it possible to keep the PMDG aircraft folder in the original download location (for me that's C drive NVME SSD) for performance reasons, but move only the PMDG liveries folder (for me that's 14Gb and climbing) to the backup drive (for me D drive HDD) then use Addon Linker for the liveries?

    Did you worked this out?

Same, interested in this specifically. PMDG installed in default location, liveries installed elsewhere. I've tried creating the livery folders and following the folder structure as done by PMDG OC app in the past but the liveries don't show up in the sim at all. Were you able to find a fix?

I never did figure this out

I started using this app a few months ago and love it! Thanks for creating this.
I recently got a new computer and did a fresh install of everything including the addons linker. I configured it for my computer and moved a couple aircraft to make sure it was working - which it was. The next time I booted the computer and tried to open the app, it would not open.
I got the message that the app was opening but it would not appear on my screen after that.
The icon would appear on the task bar as if it were open, however, when I would click on the icon, the icon would disappear.
Trying to open the app again, I would get a message that it was already running.
In the task manager, it would not appear in the apps section but it would appear in the background processes section with no activity.
Shutting it down from task manager and restarting resulted in the same outcome.

I have tried deleting and reinstalling but still have the same issue.

Any suggestions of other things I can try?

    Thanks!

Check your second monitor ( which is probably off so you can't see it )

Are you running the Linker as Administrator (see below)?

Thanks for uour efforts, now about to set up and try!

A quick question about 'image /thumbnails:'

What is the format it uses?
I tried to make (.jpg and .png) custom thumbnail .. but no success .

The Linker doesn't make its own thumbnails. For aircraft/liveries it just uses the ones in the textures folder (thumbnail.jpg or thumbnail_small.jpg) - or the same but *.png. However - if you're talking about adding images to anything other than aircraft or liveries then you'll need to replace the image in ContentInfo.

I would like to add a program to launch when msfs opens in addon linker.

Is there an argument you can use so that the program is run as an administrator?

    Thanks

I've often thought about that. My last trick was to make a desktop shortcut and add admin rights to that - then try to point the Linker path to the shortcut. However - you could also [just] use the standard Windows option by locating the actual exe, right mouse clicking on it and then go to "Properties/Compatibility" and set the "Run as administrator" box.

For those that move a payware program out of the community folder, I do the same as PAU687. What is happening here is MSFS looks to the community folder and even with DRM software as long as the link is pointing to that folder it is happy. What I do as an extra step is to zip any payware that installs to the community folder, unzip it into my external folder (I call mine "Community-working" for distinction). After this I usually store the zip somewhere then delete it out of the MSFS community folder. The process of zipping first avoids file ownership issues that may happen if files are just moved with the "move" command.

That works well. However - I use "Teracopy" (free or paid) that will happily copy from the Community folder. I tend to copy then delete the original, rather than "move" - just in case.
