Sweden Forests is a large-scale vegetation enhancement project for Sweden, focused on recreating the country’s real forest character through custom biome systems and region-specific vegetation distribution.

The project rebuilds Sweden’s vegetation zones using realistic tree species and custom biome definitions tailored specifically for Swedish landscapes. Forests gradually change as you travel from the southern nemoral regions through the vast boreal interior and into the northern mountain environments, creating a much more authentic Scandinavian atmosphere across the country.

The scenery uses land cover and forestry data from:

One of the most important aspects of Swedish landscape realism is not only where forests exist — but where trees do not grow.

A major focus of this project is removing misplaced vegetation from areas that should remain open, including wetlands, clearcuts, exposed terrain, infrastructure corridors and agricultural transitions. This dramatically improves the overall realism of Sweden from both low-level VFR flying and higher altitude operations.

The project is designed exclusively for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.

Tree placement logic itself is controlled by Asobo’s world generation system.
This project does not manually place individual trees, but instead replaces and refines the biome definitions, vegetation types and forest composition used throughout Sweden.

The result is a significantly more realistic Swedish landscape with improved regional variation, forest structure and vegetation authenticity.
