The Synaptic Simulations A220 is an upcoming study-level recreation of the Airbus A220 family for Microsoft Flight Simulator. Originally started as an open-source community project, development later transitioned into a commercial collaboration with iniBuilds, significantly expanding the project's scope and resources.
The aircraft is being developed with a strong focus on system depth, custom flight control laws, advanced avionics simulation, and detailed aircraft behavior. Developers have highlighted extensive work on the flight management system (FMS), EICAS functionality, custom fly-by-wire logic, and highly detailed engine modeling.
Visually, the project features a completely rebuilt aircraft model, utilizing high-resolution reference data, custom texturing, and detailed cockpit and exterior modeling. The team has also emphasized realistic operational workflows and failure simulation intended for advanced users and airline simulation enthusiasts.
Following multiple public development streams, FSExpo demonstrations, and regular progress updates, the project entered final testing phases during 2026. The A220-300 is planned as the initial release variant, with the A220-100 expected to follow as a free update.
