    Hello moderators,
I've published 8 packages so far on Flightsim.to and they are all related to the idea of virtual touring in MSFS of filming locations for various movies or TV shows.  The tour packages each include a PDF file that offers flight tips and explains the connection of the various landmarks to the show or movie.  These "tour guides" are quite relevant to enjoyment of the package as they provide the user context to better visualize the landmark.

Today I just uploaded a 9th package - the Yellowstone Montana Tour taking the user on a flight tour of various locations seen in the Yellowstone TV show.  This package was just bounced by the review system for containing a PDF file - which as I explained above is essential to the full experience of the package.  None of my earlier packages have been bounced for this reason, including my most recent package from earlier this month.  I think if you actually look at my content, you will agree that my PDFs should be an exception to your rule (which I have just now seen for the first time).

Please advise on the path forward.  It would be a real shame to disallow this content - I have over 1100 downloads for these packages so far.

I see the content has now been approved. I did not resubmit so I don't know what happened there. I didn't receive any messages or replies. Is there an issue with the approval system?

I had the same experience. Over the past few years, I've uploaded more than 300 low and slow flight plans with custom waypoints (https://flightsim.to/profile/FederFlyer).

The flight plans require specific changes to MSFS settings to make them functional. Thus, I provide instructions for making those changes. I've never had any problems with the upload process.

Yesterday, after the major flightsim.to site update, I uploaded a flight plan. Because of the instructions included with the plan, it was rejected because the system identified it as a tutorial. A short time later, it was approved.

My flight plans appear to be simple. But because I am using waypoints in a way that they are not designed for, the plans require hours, and sometimes days, to create. If uploading plans is now a hit-or-miss endeavor, then I need to reconsider whether I should continue doing them.

Thanks for your insight! It almost seems like the "exception process" exists and is being handled but the new website code does an 'auto-reject' based on the presence of a PDF file alone. I suspect they need to add some nuance to the business logic they use to drive that auto-reject message. Clearly it wasn't "really" rejected, as it got approved (pretty much as normal from what I can tell).

I suspect you are correct regarding an exception process. My upload did not have a PDF. In the upload description on the web page, I have a line "How to Use This Flight Plan," and I also have some lines that describe required MSFS settings. These lines are also included in a readme.txt file that is included in the zip file. These are the lines that were referred to as disallowed tutorial content in the rejection notice.

I submitted another tour package last night. Rejected again by the system. This time it has remained rejected. Are there any moderators that monitor these threads?

This time I did remove the "offensive" content and resubmitted the package which was approved. Since this package happened to be "just a tour flight" and not related to a movie or TV show, after consideration I felt that the main justification for including the extra content was weak. So I removed it. I do have other ideas for packages related to TV shows and movies and I will try again in the future.

One more data point - yesterday I created a new tour flight package but this time I decided to forego the PDF information file and instead added the equivalent content to the package description text. So, this package had both POI landmarks and a flight plan, was described as a "tour", and did NOT have a PDF file. It was rejected - and the complaint stated the reason was due to PDF content violating the "no tours" policy. Never mind that there was no actual PDF file included. Ah ha - it's the word "tour" that must be the offensive part. Got it. Ok, so I re-worded the description to eliminate the "tour" language, changed the title to use "flight plan" instead of "tour" and resubmitted. Rejected again, but this time because the category was left at "Landmarks" and the title said "Flight Plan". Instructions specifically said to change the category to Flight Plans. I did that, resubmitted and it was approved. But now my flight plan comes with a POI package that needs to be installed... So the exact same content can be approved, as long as it does not use the word "tour" or read like a tour guide. Duly noted. One more comment - I understand not being able to interact with AI bot that automates the review process, but some of my rejections appear to be written by Real Humans. It is frustrating to have to guess what will be approved - would be much easier to be able to message the Actual Person who is rejecting to understand the rationale. If this site wants to have a "no tours" policy, that's fine - but then why is my clearly-tour-oriented content being approved at all? And when did this policy become active? To me it seems like a "feature" of the new website. None of my packages with the exact same content were rejected prior to the new website going live. Do we really want to make things harder for creators to share their free content?

I uploaded a new flight plan today. I put the required MSFS settings and usage instructions in a file named readme.pdf. I refrained from using any triggering verbiage, such as "instructions", "how to", etc., in the web page content. The system accepted the upload with no issues. Fingers crossed for the next one.

Update: I uploaded another flight plan, using the same approach as my previous upload (see the previous post, above). The upload was accepted with no issues.

I just uploaded a new package (avoiding triggering language) and it was instantly approved. No pdf file, just an enhanced description of the landmarks in the package description. Title is "Yellowstone Texas Landmarks and Flight Plan" under Landmarks.

    It happened again today.

I got this rejection notice: "[AI] Description references an included readme.pdf (a document). The guidelines disallow documents/information lists except specific allowed types (checklists, flight plans, GSX/SimBrief profiles, or applications). Remove the PDF dependency or move the required settings into the English description/readme text within the upload instead."

I've tried a couple of different approaches, and it's like playing Whack-a-Mole with the AI approval process.

Once again, I'm considering giving up contributing to the site.

I submitted a trouble ticket, and they responded quickly. They said they have adjusted the AI filters and suggested that whenever it happens, I should hit the "Reapply" button to trigger human review. I will continue to do submissions and will see how it goes.

I just submitted a new package with no "triggering language" and AI rejected it. As before this is a set of Landmarks (which is an add-on) and a flight plan to visit the landmarks. I categorized it as "Landmarks" because it is an actual add-on and not just a flight plan. The AI flagged it as a flight plan and suggested that I break the package up into 1 package for the landmarks and 1 package for the flight plan. I did that for my first packages because I was new but I realized that the flight plan makes no sense on its own without the landmarks so it seems much better to put them together in one package. Particularly for small packages with less than 20 landmarks and only 1 flight plan. Anyway I have now edited the text to remove all "flight plan" language and we will see if it is approved.

After removing "flight plan" from the title and description (but without removing the flight plan), the package was approved. I suppose from now on my packages will be titled "Landmarks" and if they include a flight plan that will be a bonus. Stupid...

I have discontinued doing my flight plans. It's not worth the hassle of packaging and repackaging them based on the whims of the AI approval system.

Another package, another fight with AI. This time the feedback explicitly said "no movie trivia" and required me to rewrite my description to remove all the fun content and focus only on the game rendering.

After getting past the first AI gate, it was rejected by the 2nd AI gate. I left 2 references to the movie in the description so that users would understand why the landmark was included without having to go back and watch the movie to find out where the location was used...Re-applied for human review!

I'm done with uploading guided-tour plans, at least for the foreseeable future. I won't say "never" because I do enjoy creating the plans.

However, in addition to the AI approval issues, my plans lately have had a low download rate. I have 322 plans on flightsim.to, and over the past several years, they have been downloaded more than 70,000 times. That included more than a year when I was inactive. The norm was an average of about 100 downloads a day. Lately, though, the plans have been downloaded an average of less than 10 per day. That is a 90% drop.

I have not changed the format, scope or presentation style of the plans. So something else has changed. Is there suddenly 90% less user interest? It's possible, but having that huge a shift seems unlikely. Is it because of the changes to the flightsim.to the platform and implementation of how AI controls things? Is it because of other reasons? There's no way to determine the cause of the decline in my download rates.

But it takes hours, and sometimes days, to create and package each plan. Adding the extra hassle of dealing with the AI approval nonsense, along with the inexplicably low download rates, makes the effort not worth it. I am better off simply hanging a sign on the wall that says, "Bang head here".

So, at least for now, I'm discontinuing creation of guided-tour flight plans.
