KGRR - Grand Rapids, MI - Gerald R Ford Airport - Image 1

    Beschreibung

This is Grand Rapids (Gerald R. Ford) Intl. Airport (KGRR / GRR) scenery that I've been working on for a while now. It is considered a "better than default" scenery addon with mostly custom buildings, hand drawn painted lines, and aprons/ramps and taxiway pavement manually placed. The modeling and texturing of the buildings, and some other quirks are still very much a work in progress, and as such I always appreciate feedback.

Hello, it might be a while for the next update still, since I've been extremely busy. I should have more time the next few months though

Thank god your doing this bro... i was trying to start up one myself but sadly I'm not the greatest 3D modeller in this day and age... since AI tools have come out... and I am un-familiar with it. thank you for doing this. are you going to get the gates to work for fs2024? and I work for the Airline here and I am a Ramp agent so if you ever need some spot or item checks on anything here. I work here and I am down to help get this Airport in game working correctly. they have recently been working on grand rapids scenery so this mod will work very well with that I am sure. anyway let me know.

Any plans for more updates? This airport is near me and one that I fly out of for my virtual airline. Looking forward to some more updates as this is the best version of kgrr we have got so far

Hello, yes I do plan on and I still am working on an update. It's going a little bit slower right now, and will take time than my last updates though. When work gets less busy for me, I'll have more time to work on it again

Wow. Finally after years of dealing with the subpar FSXcenery version this is a breath of fresh air. Even in its current state it is excellent IMO and I know it will only improve from here. Excited to see how the interiors turn out!

Did you happen to make a GSX profile for those Airline gates along with Pushback directions ?

A GSX profile is in the works. Unfortunately, it will take a while (unless someone else would like to help and make it)

Hi! thanks for the airport!! could you please check the 'levelling' of static cars at parking areas? some of those cars are levitating...

Hello, I have been able to temporarily fix for (most) areas of floating cars for the next version that will be released. This should fix it for most users, for a while. Depending on user settings, and terrain data updates that Asobo releases, it will be a recurring problem... but at least temporarily it'll be fixed.

After the next update, if there's still some areas it'd help me if you message me with the specific areas, and I'll have some questions about sim (2020 vs 2024) and settings.

After the latest update and checking the BATC map again, BATC still does not detect any hold short nodes, and AI aircraft are still disappearing after arrival or not wanting to pushback at all

Guess it was fun while it lasted 🤷‍♂️

I'll see about updating the version of the SDK that I'm using and see if that fixes it. My other recommendation is contacting BATC themselves and seeing if they have an idea.

As far as AI aircraft disappearing after arrival or not pushing back... for clarification: are you referring to the default AI, only BATC, or both?

Thanks for the update! Hopefully the newer SDK version clears things up.
Regarding the AI behavior: I'm only seeing the issue with BATC traffic only. I haven't tried any other AI platform yet.

I already contacted BATC devs on Discord and here's what they said:

"As the team - scenery issues just fill our bug tracking system up and really don't add value - only if and when they are confirmed by a scenery dev that they have fully completed all the normal steps required for scenery data set - then happy to get them. I'll be closing this one. We appreciate bug reports when they are something we should look at now. because again it clearly looks like a scenery issue - we don't need these reported unless the scenery dev is sure its not their problem"

    BeyondATC Issues Identified:
    1) AI traffic receives clearance but never initiates pushback.
    2) AI aircraft disappear shortly after landing.
    3) ATC instructs the user aircraft to “taxi at your discretion,” likely because taxiway names are not in the AFCAD according to the BATC map even though the signage is visible on the ground.

Feel free to have a look and investigate

Hello, I am currently aware of third issue / bug that you listed (AFCAD issue), and suspect a cause for the second you that you listed (probably runway hold shorts). I don't have BeyondATC, nor do I have to budget to, so I have no way to test BeyondATC specifically... I'd like to make it compatible but I don't guarantee that this is or could be compatible with any third party addons at this time.

That being said, I'll see what I can do though!

This (v0.55) is an excellent start! I've been waiting for someone to take on KGRR for so long. It always felt like this airport was especially inaccurate in MSFS and it's really nice to see so much of that already replaced. You've even represented the new parking structure still under construction on the NE side of the main terminal. Huge improvement so far and looking forward to future development!

KGRR - Grand Rapids, MI - Gerald R Ford Airport

This add-on presents an early release version of Gerald R. Ford International Airport (KGRR) in Grand Rapids, MI, featuring enhanced scenery that surpasses the default offering. It includes custom buildings, hand-drawn painted lines, and manually placed pavement for taxiways and aprons. While many elements are complete, some modeling and texturing remain in progress, and the design may contain inaccuracies due to limited reference materials. Certain logos and trademarks have been modified or omitted to comply with legal standards.

    - Added missing movement / non-movement area markings for taxiways R & Y - Added a missing taxiway hold short line - Fixed terrain issues by the T-hangars - Added some static cars, and fixed some that were floating (some autogen cars show up in 2024 that might still float) - Some small fixes to various scenery objects - Some minor details added around the airport - (Hopefully) fixed compatibility with Beyond ATC / other ATC or AI traffic addons
