    Beschreibung

PAOT - Ralph Wien Memorial Airport:

Ralph Wien Memorial Airport (PAOT/OTZ) serves as the primary service and transportation hub for the Northwest Arctic Borough (NWAB).
All activity in the region flows through PAOT, making it the #8 busiest airport in Alaska, with daily passenger jet service to Anchorage and Nome
as well as air taxi, cargo and mail service to the many outlying villages.

It is located in Alaska, 26 miles above the Arctic Circle, on the North-West shore of the Baldwin Peninsula, bordered to the west by Kotzebue Sound and further out - the Chukchi Sea,
and to the east by the Hotham Inlet where both the Kobuk, Noatak, and Selawik rivers has there outlets.

    Kotzebue:

Right next to airport, occuping a 3-mile-long gravel spit, lies Kotzebue city - with the nickname “Gateway to the Arctic”.
The Iñupiat people have occupied the area - with the local name “Kikiktagruk” ("Almost an island") for at least 600 years.

Kotzebue started out as a summer fish camp, but was later stablished as a permanent Eskimo village when a reindeer station was located here about 1897.
The population has now grown to around 3,500 people, a sizable community by rural Alaskan standards, making it the largest communities in the Northwest Arctic Borough (NWAB).

    Northwest Arctic Borough (NWAB):

The second largest borough in Alaska, covering 40,749 square miles (105,540 km2) of land and water. The region experiences a transitional climate, characterized by long, cold winters and cool summers. Temperatures range from -52 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit (-46 to 30 degrees Celsius).
The region is home to approx. 7715 people, many of these are totally dependent on transporting people and goods by air.

"Oh my god" is all I have to say to this. It's like I was at the airport in real life.

There were some inconsistencies with the water (like, the sea bending upwards at the 27 end of the runway), but they were subtle enough to be overlooked. Also, the all approaches worked!

    Hallo K3V,
    what a great scenery. 👍👍👍
My sincere and heartfelt congratulations. Better than many payware offerings. I myself have little knowledge of scenery creation. But your work looks simply superb and leaves nothing to be desired. Once again, my heartfelt thanks and absolute admiration for your work.

Best wishes from the far Germany

Absolutely stunning. Amazing level of detail at both the airport and in the surroundings! Kudos for a job really well done.

Hope the 2020 folks just upgrade now that the sim's gotten pretty solid, vs you having to redo so much work for the old sim. This airport's worth the upgrade!

Thank you @DennyAtkin for the nice words - and stars ✨ ... I'm so glad you like it 😊 And yes, I hope the remaining 2020 folks upgrades too. As you say, the Sim seems pretty solid now 👍... And it would indeed take a huge amount of work, if possible at all, to re-create PAOT in 2020 ...

You have knocked it right out of the par with 0.3!! This sprawling airport has beautiful detail work everywhere. The signage you've added to buildings and hangars makes a big difference.
Thanks for this awesome 5-star project.
