EG39 Thorpe Abbotts "Masters of the Air" Complete Base - Image 1

    Beschreibung

EG39 Thorpe Abbotts, home of the 100th bomb group.

Site for the T.V. series "Masters of the Air"

*Please note helo pilots, I believe there is a landing site also using the code EG39. Sorry I started this project before helos were in the sim, sorry I am not changing this.

With the upcoming release of the Television Series “Masters of the Air” I have redone this airfield to recreate the entire base, as best as I can adding buildings that I have been able to match as closely as I possibly can to the closest location with a full map of the entire base when it was fully operational . Masters of the Air is an upcoming American war drama streaming television miniseries. It follows the actions of the 100th Bomb Group of the United States Army Air Forces during World War II, a unit nicknamed the “Bloody Hundredth” due to the heavy losses it incurred in combat missions.

One man in behind the scene who was a driving force to get this up and running, his dad flew out of this base, He has a Twitch Stream and would love for anyone to join his stream and show you around the base and provide you with so much more information that I could provide you. Here is the link for that stream https://www.twitch.tv/splasher_6

Next I must thank Jeppeson2001, thank you my friend for your wonderful creation of the control tower, memorial museum. Static Aircraft and the extras you have helped me with to finish this project.

To Amarillon for your wonderfull libraries for the buildings for this, also future projects... also to the owers of the other libraries needed to see all the scenery, thank you for these libraries. You will need to have these following libraries in your community folder

    https://flightsim.to/file/56849/ipdc-vehicles-library

    https://flightsim.to/file/56846/ipdc-scenery-objects-library

To those who never came home..

    Never forgotten.

    Enjoy.

For anyone else finding this - the legacy IPDC libraries are available here: https://flightsim.to/addon/98891/ipdc-legacy-libraries

Ok, I am about to move house within the next month. When I get myself all set up again, I will look into this and get things working again.......

could this possibly be fixed? I would love to have it but apparently objects are missing with the most recent library updates...

It would be great to have an update for MSFS 2024 to get it working properly with the IPDC libraries again.

The "ipdc" libraries ( https://flightsim.to/file/56849/ipdc-vehicles-library & https://flightsim.to/file/56846/ipdc-scenery-objects-library ) have been updated to apparently a new folder structure, and updating them removes them from your excellent scenery. Would it be possible to add them back according to the new library structure? I recognize this isn't your fault but I don't know how else to fix it.

Thanks for your work.. Great project but my downloads place jets in a couple of bays! Has anyone else had that issue? These time travellers jar with an otherwise excellent recreation.

Hi Brian, unfortunately due to having parking bays where you can start from, the downfall is AI aircraft get placed in these....

Masters of the Air is definitely worth looking forward to with its blockbuster filming locations. Enjoy surprises. Besides, I'm quite looking forward to the designs https://geometry-lite.co

Why did you include a link to an online web game?. i cant see the reasoning here?

Thank you so much for making this scenery! It's great to have a home for when the FI B-17 comes out!

I do have a question: Most of the hardstands appear to have a patch of grass in the center - some larger than others. Is this accurate or is this some sort of sim/scenery limitation?

Hi Raven, thank you for your comments. The textures you see in the hardstands were the original textures, which just between you and me were forgotten before I released the package.
As it was such a huge project, I had a list of things to complete, ie each of the areas where the huts are. in its prime there were 3,500 men stationed there. So while I do apologise for this lack of leaving those textures, I might be looking at a few things that I will change within the package.

I am so glad I found your Thorpe Abbotts. I have been flying out of Duxford and I've been on the lookout historic airfields and walla!!! Thanks so much for your effort and bringing an old airfield back to life.

One, of the BEST WW2 sceneries, out there today, I included a WW2 plane, to highlight your excellent attention to detail and your superb craftsmanship, keep up the great old WW2 scenery, there needs to be more of it, in MSFS 2020. I made a video, to show your GREAT scenery, Thanks https://youtu.be/xRMg7paq5WM?si=nKlAT8LGVhw3ZlaT
