    Beschreibung

    Aerial imagery for PHNL - Daniel K. Inouye International Airport exracted from Google Earth. This add-on significantly improves the quality of the ground textures surrounding the Honolulu airport. This is a scenery package containing a giant ground texture with georeferencing and some scenery items. It is meant to be used with LimaJuliet and DanielK's PHNL scenery packages (the screenshots shown here were taken with the other two packages installed).

    Version history:
    1.0: 
    - Initial version, Covers area south of H1 and South Avenue.

    1.1:
    - Covered up some undesirable 2D clutter on aerial imagery close to taxiways with ground texture polygons
    - Added a few antenna objects where they appear on aerial images
    - Added B2 bombers where they appear on aerial images (model by https://sketchfab.com/manilov.ap, textures by me)
    - Added a couple of hangars near entrance

    Installation:
    Unzip and copy folder into your Community folder.

    From 15+ nautical miles there is huge white untextured, low mesh terrain visible. If I understand that correctly you cant do anything about it, because of the sim limitation?

    Interesting that you mention that, I saw this around another one of my airports recently but it doesn't seem to happen all the time and to everyone. I'm checking with other devs about what this might be, I know there's an old open Asobo bug against this issue, not sure if there's a workaround.

    @Marionettework. I found about it recently after I purchased and tried Seychelles by FSDG.

    Here you can read about it and from what I saw it was exactly the same although it went from the airport to the left and stopped before the higher elevation. Cant pinpoint it exactly because as I moved closer for landing it returned to normal.

    Btw I would like to use your addon with payware PHNL by Inibuilds do you think/do you know if it is going to work? I could not find it anywhere but it seems to me that they made the airport only on the ugly default low res terrain. Thanks a lot.

    Looking at the iniBuilds PHNL I think they improved the aerial around the airport so I don't think you need my scenery. You can try it and see if you prefer the result, it should work. However I made it before the iniBuilds came out and mine was designed to work with the freeware PHNL. The biggest drawback of iniBuilds is the missing B2 bombers, I think maybe I should release a pack just with those. :)

    I did look into this white texture issue and as your link explains, it seems to be a bug with the sim. I have not found a workaround yet, I reached out to some people and I'll update if there's a fix.

    @Marionettework. One players I talked to said that when the white box appears it is possible to fix it by turning on devmode, find the scenery file in the list and press the down arrow to see number "1" instead of 0. I tried it and it worked with some payware airport, but I cant say for sure it is the 100% solution, because this airport - firstly I experienced it I had 3 hour flight from MIami to Aruba and the airport had white rectangle until some 15 nautical miles then it disappeared funny enough it also disappeared when I was further away like 40 nm so the white rectangle was there between 15-40 nm. Then I restarted sim and flew to this island from another island about only 100km away and no white rectangle and I did not change anything. Now I have the fix in place and will see next time I'm going to visit Aruba from MIami for testing purposes.

    Unless the country is the Vatican I’m not sure it’s worth doing because the aerial imagery takes a huge amount of space and is very time consuming. A whole country is just not practical.

    It works with PHKO from Asobo, and I don't think you need it with iniBuilds PHNL as they seem to have enhanced the ground textures. But I'll let people test extensively and report back.

    Great improvement to the default ground textures, finally makes it worth it to visit PHNL. Keep it up!
