    Beschreibung

    For my first attempt at MSFS modelling I chose my local airfield Sleap (EGCV) where I gained my PPL. Please note that this is a living project that I am still actively working on. All custom objects were created by myself in Blender, many using textures taken at Sleap airfield with my phone camera. Of the many elements modelled, the more difficult were the custom animated Windsock, Flag, Landing 'T', and wind turbine. I have learn't much since I started this project, if only I knew then what I know now!

    This being close to your Shobdon scenery makes for a nice little trip around my local area (living in Ludlow). I occasionally see Apache helicopters landing here on Flightradar24.

    Shortly after gaining my PPL, I flew my wife from Sleap to Shobdon and back, so to me the two airfields are forever linked. I don't fly anymore, but prior to updating for MSFS 2024, I recently visited Sleap by road. I was surprised how much had changed. Consequently, I don't think my add-on will ever be finished!

    Thank you very much for creating this airfield. It's a fantastic representation which I had been hoping somebody would do.
    It's local to me, and my son Alex volunteers there occasionally particularly during Sleapkosh !

    Glad you like it.
    I gained my PPL at Sleap so to me it will always be a special place. It was also my first MSFS scenery project and there are many things I'd do differently if I knew then what I know now! I'll get around to finishing it one day...

    I have an inapperopriate large airport type fire engine and tug, are they part of your scenery package?

    Hi David,

    Many thanks for the donation, glad you like it.

    The model looks okay from a distance, but is a bit rough around the edges close up. Creating a livery was a steeper learning curve than I anticipated. However, now my knowledge of the process has increased (from zero), I'll endeavour to create a better quality livery add-on for the sim in the future. I have many logbook entries for G-LAMS.

    Only just noticed, the windsocks at the fuelling area "fly" in opposite directions. Suggest you modify them to point in the correct direction; I'm not sure if either of them point in the correct direction

    Sorry, it doesn't appear to be fixed. The one nearest the white fuel tank appears to be correct but the one nearest the smaller hut is 180 degrees off.

    Looks very realistic having visited both by air and land.

    My only request is for a few open hangars with some interest inside

    Sleap (pronounced "Slape") is an ex-Royal Air Force airfield, opened in 1943, and used by RAF advanced flying training.     Las Vegas Municipal Airport (IATA: LVS, ICAO: KLVS, FAA LID: LVS) is five miles (8 km) northeast of Las Vegas, in San Miguel County, New Mexico.
