The London Gliding Club is a members' club whose airfield is located at the foot of the Dunstable Downs. Many privately owned gliders are based there. It has the facilities to train pilots in powerless flight, and in the skills necessary to fly cross country using nature's sources of energy.
As there is currently no ICAO for this airfield I have given it the fictional one of EGLR
- Use MSFS tow plane or winch on SW runways
- Use only the winch for the other runways (this is a sim limitation due to excessive takeoff run tow plane needs)
Changes and additions:
- Airport added with ICAO: EGLR
- 3 grass 'runways' added
- 3 parking spots
- Terraforming
- Accurate tree placement
- Realistic objects/buildings
- Roads/Paths included
- Windsock added
- Static gliders and trailers added
Known limitations:
- Runways labelled south and west aren't actually their respective directions (SDK limitation)
- Tow plane can't be used on North, South, or North East runways (Sim limitation due to excessive takeoff run tow plane needs)
Not necessary but please ensure all world updates are downloaded for the best experience
More additions coming soon including a better looking Whipsnade Lion!
If you have been to London Gliding Club please let me know of any additions/changes to make this scenery more accurate

Many thanks for this scenery, which I've only just found after starting to put in some "runways". Hope you're still OK to maintain / update.
Like other commenters, it is many years since I flew from here on a week long gliding course. Much as I remember it, though the grass needs cutting! Also, in those days there was a hangar with big doors where you have the white building with four indentations facing SE from where we pulled out the school's gliders for the day. Is it possible to make the parked gliders visible from further away? The field looks very sparse until near the boundary and the bright white objects would show up from much further away.

Many thanks for sorting that, will try it out tomorrow :)

Hi, getting back to Gliding again in MSFS and went to London Gliding Club which has always worked fine for me but now shows as a water runway and won't let you start any gliders or wheeled aircraft there. Any ideas? A real shame.

Noticed this today also. Seems to be since Sim Update 10. Also the marker doesn't show up on the world map if you try and find it. I'm sure it used to appear in text search for London Gliding or Dunstable too, but no longer does. You can type EGLR to bring up the popup (but then the warning about water runway). Any chance of a fix on this please? :)

This has been fixed with the latest update, with a bit of poking around it seems WU10 caused the runway to lose it texture making it a water runway! Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

Hi, I've created a Landing Challenge for Dunstable (I also used to fly there in the 80's for a short while...) but due to the defined width of the runway the landing target is oversize...any chance of reducing it a bit?

Hi there, I will have a look into it, will need to adjust the terraforming a bit!

Hi,
I have done a little bit of gliding here over the years, and I am really pleased that you have created this.
The ICAO I believe is GB-0615.
More photos of the historic clubhouse/hangar can be found at; https://www.abct.org.uk/airfields/airfield-finder/dunstable-downs/

Further to my previous comment, there are some good pictures of the main building (which is listed) with hangar below on the net, google london gliding club photos. It would need a skilled 3d modeller for that challenging building (that's not me though I'd like to start one day) and you may only use stock buildings.
