    Welcome to GateFinder!

GateFinder is powered by a community database of gate assignments. If you have GSX profiles that are missing, you can click Scan Installed Airports and then Contribute Missing in the settings. This generates a small anonymous JSON file on your Desktop that you can upload to our GitHub to help make GateFinder better for everyone!

    🌟 Key Features

GSX Profiles Support (Primary) : Scans your local FSDreamTeam GSX profiles to read precise parking sizes and airline codes.

    • OpenStreetMap Fallback (OSM): Don't have GSX? No problem! GateFinder queries live OSM data to assign compatible gates.
    • Interactive Mini-Map : View your assigned gate directly inside the desktop app or the MSFS In-Game Panel (supports zoom, recentering, and 4 styles including Satellite Imagery).
    • Live Traffic Check (VATSIM & IVAO) : Automatically bypasses gates occupied by other parked online aircraft so you never spawn on top of someone!
    • One-Click Installer : Detects your MSFS Community folder path automatically and installs the cockpit panel in one click.

    🛠️ Quick Start

    1. Extract the GateFinder folder anywhere on your PC.
    2. Open the desktop app, go to Settings, verify your MSFS Community folder path, and click Install Panel to add the cockpit toolbar panel.
    3. Enter your SimBrief Username/Pilot ID and click Save & Close.
    4. Click Import SimBrief Flight Plan to get your gates. Open the GateFinder panel inside MSFS (cogwheel icon) to view your gate position in real-time during your flight!

Performance Map Toggle: Added an option in Settings to disable airport maps.
urning this off disables map tile loading and rendering, significantly saving system resources for users on lower-end PCs (both in the desktop app and the in-game panel).

Hello ! Thanks for this app. It seems that there is a conflict with GSX profile. It shows Terminal L or R for airports with left and right gates configurations

Hi! Thanks for pointing this out.

You’re totally right : some GSX profiles use `L`, `R`, or `C` for Left, Right, or Center stand positions (like `L 12` or `Stand R 5`). My parser was accidentally picking up that `L` or `R` as a terminal letter, which caused those weird "Terminal L" or "Terminal R" labels!

I’ve just fixed the parser to properly handle Left/Right/Center gate positions so it now shows the real Zone or Main Apron instead. I'll drop this fix in the upcoming update!

Hi, it still doesn't support 2 community folders (it's a SU4 introduced feature with Community and Community2024 folders - I have addons in both folders) and recently I also get the Trojan:Win32/Wacatac.B!ml warning in W11 Windows Security.

    Hey! Thanks for reaching out.

Here’s the deal with both points:

    1. **2 Community Folders**: GateFinder already scans both `Community` and `Community2024` automatically as long as they're in the same MSFS parent folder. That said, I'm adding full multi-folder selection in the upcoming 1.6 update so you can easily pick custom paths from different drives!

    2. **Wacatac Warning**: That's a classic false positive from Windows Defender's machine learning. PyInstaller (which I use to package the app) gets flagged by Defender sometimes because the app isn’t digitally signed with a paid certificate. The code is 100% safe and open-source on GitHub—you can safely restore it and add an exclusion for `GateFinder.exe` in Windows Security.

Both improvements will be included in the next update coming very soon! Hope that helps, let me know if you run into anything else.

Very nice. Any chance there is support for fictitious/legacy/virtual airlines? I'm specifically flying a freighter and it wants to put me at a gate, likely due to not knowing my virtual airlines or the plane I'm flying. Thanks!

Hello, Very good idea. Working on it for the 1.5 version. Thanks for the feedback. Cheers.

    Hey! Thanks for the suggestion.

In the 1.5 update, I actually rolled out a "Universal Cargo Rule" along with support for Virtual Airlines (including fictitious and custom ones like Walker, FlyUK, AFV, etc.).

If you were placed at a passenger gate, it’s usually because SimBrief passed a standard passenger aircraft code (like `B763` or `B77L` instead of `B763F` or `B77F`), so GateFinder didn’t catch that it was a freighter.

Out of curiosity, which airline and aircraft were you flying when this happened?

For the 1.6 update, I’m expanding the freighter auto-detection to catch more custom airframes and adding a "Cargo Mode toggle" right in the UI so you can manually force Cargo Apron parking anytime, no matter what plane or virtual airline you’re flying!

I fly for Walker. Oddly enough, when I use the default Simbrief MD11F profile, GateFinder correctly puts me at a cargo stand. But when I use a TFDI specific MD11F profile it wants to put me at a gate

This is a really great addon! Can you please add a support for two community folders? Since SU4 there are two Community folders where the sim looks for addons. Community and Community2024. Thank you!

I've noticed that when I start the GateFinder.exe file, and then close it, it is still running in task manager. It will close when I do the end task.

    Hi,

To completely uninstall the older version of GateFinder, you can follow these manual steps:

In-Game Panel: Go to your MSFS Community folder and delete the wildbill75-gatefinder folder.*
Desktop Application: Delete the portable folder containing GateFinder.exe and its files.*
Auto-Start Registry: To prevent MSFS from searching for the deleted executable at startup, open the exe.xml file (located in your MSFS LocalCache directory) with a text editor like Notepad, and delete the section containing GSX GateFinder.*

Note: I will release a new update (V1.4) that includes a built-in "Uninstall" button directly inside the Settings menu. For future cleanups, clicking this button will automatically handle all of these steps for you!

Have you ever landed at a massive airport after a long flight and wondered: "Which gate should I taxi to?" or "Where does my airline actually park here?" GateFinder eliminates the guesswork. It automatically imports your current SimBrief flight plan and assigns you the most realistic departure and arrival gates, perfectly matched to your aircraft type, airline, and real-world operations.

🚀 GateFinder V1.5 - Release Notes & Changelog Release Summary GateFinder V1.5 introduces a brand-new Universal Cargo Gate Selection Engine, comprehensive Virtual Airline (VA) integration, refined UI company badges, and improved GSX & OSM fallback parsing. 📦 1. Universal Cargo Gate Selection Rule (Worldwide) Universal Rule Engine: Replaced manual airport exclusions with a robust 3-tier algorithmic rule that applies to 100% of airports worldwide, regardless of whether they use custom GSX profiles or OpenStreetMap (OSM) fallback data. Freighter Aircraft & Carrier Detection: Automatically identifies freighter aircraft types (B767-300F, B777F, B747F, B737F, MD11F, A330F, BCF, P2F, BDSF) and cargo airlines (DHL, FDX, UPS, CLX, BOX, GTI, GEC, etc.). GSX Profile Airports: Priority 1: Dedicated CARGO gates. Priority 2: Remote aprons/ramps without jetways (has_jetway == False), while strictly filtering out military and General Aviation (GA) stands. Priority 3: Any size-compatible stand without a jetway. Exclusion: Passenger terminal jetway gates are strictly forbidden for cargo flights. OpenStreetMap (OSM) Fallback Airports: Priority 1: Ramp/Apron stands containing keywords "cargo", "freight", "ramp", or starting with ramp designations (e.g., R1–R18 at LaGuardia KLGA). Priority 2: Any stand without a jetway (has_jetway == False). Exclusion: Passenger jetway gates (such as Stand 48A at KLGA) are automatically excluded. Dedicated Cargo UI Styling: Cargo arrivals/departures display CARGO APRON as the terminal name and Cargo Ramp (No Jetway) as the boarding subtitle. ✈️ 2. Virtual Airline (VA) Integration & UI Enhancements vAMSYS & Global VA Network Support: Seamless support for Virtual Airlines operating on vAMSYS, VATSIM, IVAO, and TFDi (vEZY, LH Virtual, vRYR, SW Virtual, Virtual TUI Group, vSpirit, vTP, Edelweiss Virtual, VITA Virtual, VSAS, vAAL, vbrussels, United Virtual, BoxVirtual, vDHL Group, Emirates/flydubai Virtual, British Airways Virtual, Cathay Pacific Virtual, Walker Air Transport, FlyUK, etc.). Custom VA ICAO Code Recognition: Added recognition for dedicated/custom VA codes (e.g. WAT, FLUK, AFV, DLHV, EZYV, RYRV, BAWV, BOXV). Dynamic VA Name Resolution: Added dynamic prefix/suffix matching (AFV ➡️ Air France Virtuelle, DLHV ➡️ Lufthansa Virtuelle, WAT ➡️ Walker Air Transport). UI Company Badge: The top-right UI badge now clearly displays full descriptive airline names with their code in parentheses (e.g. Air France Virtuelle (AFV), Walker Air Transport (WAT), easyJet (EZY)). 🛩️ 3. SimBrief Payload & Wingspan Matching SimBrief Freighter Mapping: Added wingspan and aircraft type resolution for freighter base types (e.g. B76F mapped to 47.6m wingspan). Tight-Fit Calculation: Optimized wingspan compatibility checks and tight-fit tolerances (+0.2m warnings).
