Cape Town RSA - Image 1

    Beschreibung

Notice: For those who already downloaded the first two ZIP files, there are now 4 new scenery files to download, expanding and cleaning the initial published city center! Also important to acknowledge, you need these 6 parts if you wish to use my Table Mountain RSA add-on, otherwise its terraforming won't work and you'll see a huge hole in the mountainside. The downloads are big, altogether, but they make for a very immersive experience.

Following a suggestion, here comes the city center, immediate surroundings and main marina of Cape Town in South Africa. The scenery is based on Google Maps with level of detail (LOD) 17–19, visually very good but offering good performance. In this one I left the GM ground textures show on top as it seemed to work the best this way.

Extensive terraforming was applied throughout and for this reason you really need to install all the parts to avoid ground anomalies.

The whole city with its around 3,5 million inhabitants covers a huge area — this area shows the most recognizable buildings. The location afoot the famous Table Mountain is stunning, and the ocean stretches to the south as far as eye can see. It's not a great distance to many wildlife and national parks. The city has two airports very close by.

    INSTALLATION

I was just told that the ZIP folders don't have the main folders which should "house" the contents. (When I download a ZIP from this add-on I don't have this problem, everything comes out ok, so it might be a very specific issue for some users.) Therefore, if you get "bare files" and subfolders without the main folder you need to do this additional step, sorry for that. Unzip the first downloaded ZIP file, then create an empty folder on your desktop which you should name the same way as the ZIP file (for example the first, "keinowaara-cape-town1"), place the contents from the opened ZIP there. Do the same with the two remaining (until "...town6"), then place the resulting folders inside your MSFS 2024 Community folder. Have fun! :)

In the Installation instructions above there's a description of two cases that you might encounter and how to advance, did you notice that? :) If you just follow that for which ever case applies to you it should work out alright. Let me know if you still have problems.

I take it that you mean if you want to download only one of them..? Well I wouldn't really be able to tell since they all surround the earlier ones. I guess they are the most important and it doesn't matter that much which of the others you get (unless, of course, you plan to download the Table Mountain scenery, then you unfortunately need all of these).

Looks great, but this is missing a top level folder. Inside the zip files there`s only loose folders and files. Same with your Table mountain mod.

Thank you for notifying about that! There has been some strange behavior with my ZIP app lately. First it created surplus folders around the ZIP contents. Some people were wondering if anything had changed since they installed my mod and, true enough, the sim didn't recognize any mod files, them being inside another with the same name. Therefore I now created these ZIPs straight from the contents but naming the ZIP as the main folder should be. When I download any of the ZIPs on Mac (which I mostly use) they work as expected (main folder and contents shown on your image). Why they don't work for everyone, I have no idea. But clearly I need to start using another zipping method from now on, and to test them first. -- Thank you again, sorry for the hassle! I've now updated the installation instructions for both add-ons.

Please note, 24th of June I uploaded 4 further parts into this scenery, expanding and enhancing it. Since they are new files, the site won't push a full update announcement.

Hi, is there any chance we can get more maps on CPT? It looks great but it does cut quite aggressively from google maps to MSFS maps

Yes, I might. However, it's been a little discouraging to have 221 likes and 1 donation of 10€ (thanks again, Antti!) per 5200+ downloads and 100+ working hours... My time is limited and I can't treat something as a secondary job, fulfilling requests, if it doesn't give much anything back. I hope you all understand that. If you can't donate a couple euros at the moment, I get it, but leaving a like or a comment would be fair. (This is not directed at you, FligtsimmerEU, I have no idea who has liked and what.) But again, I may broaden the area. Google Maps is the problem: the scenery comes in tiles and sometimes it's difficult to estimate a line where it cuts to normal scenery.

Hello! I just uploaded Table Mountain scenery as well as expansions to the city scenery. The latter is pending inspection by staff but I'd expect it to be approved soon since the mountain parts are already downloadable. Hope you enjoy! :)

Wow! I have been waiting for Table Mountain to look great again. Thanks so much. Do we need to use google in Flight Sim 2024 settings?

Hope it looks good! I don't quite understand the question though... Only thing you need to do is unzip the dowloaded files and place the two folders in your Community folder, then start the sim. Once you fly over Cape Town, the scenery is there, no other settings needed. By the way, Table Mountain itself is not part of the Google Maps imported scenery, it's the sim version of it. My add-on only covers the areas beneath it.

I can see that the abbreviated description of the add-on might be a bit misleading concerning Table Mountain. It's generated by the site AI and we creators can't control that. :/

Glad you like it! Possibly, but I'm doing this with very limited time so it might take a while. (Also depends on the availability of GM data of the area.) Thanks for suggestion!

Wow thank you bro! Appreciate you posting the suggestion! I'll test it with Orbx and edit the comment and see if its compatible for those who have it and are reading this comment

EDIT: It isn't compatible with ORBX (double buildings) ie with the skyscrapers but I'll still happily keep this on.

    Tampere City Finland

This add-on features a Google Maps-based import of Tampere, Finland, covering the city and its surroundings in the first of several planned parts. Tampere is the third largest city in Finland, set amidst lakes, forests, and a rich architectural landscape. The scenery uses LOD levels 17 to 19 for a balance of detail and file size, although some texture and tree rendering limitations are present. Users may experience heavier system load due to uncompressed textures and additional map details.

Bodø City (NO) vol. 2 offers an updated scenery add-on for MSFS 2024, enhancing the depiction of the town located in Nordland, Norway. This version introduces a more extensive area to the east, ensuring better visuals and reduced clipping of larger buildings. The scenery is based on Google Maps data, though some issues from the default simulation may affect road placements and ground appearance. It is recommended to remove any previous versions before installation to avoid conflicts.
