You know the feeling. A full VATSIM flight, a busy frequency, a solid arrival, and then the airport appears almost deserted. Empty gates, empty ramps, empty stands. The flight felt alive. The ground does not.
GateStaticInjector fixes that. GSI fills unused stands with realistic cold-and-dark static aircraft, giving your airports the ambient density you would expect from a real-world hub. No moving traffic, no schedules, no AI departures, just parked liners where they belong. And when a VATSIM pilot needs a stand, GSI clears it automatically by detection. Live traffic always comes first.
▸ HOW IT WORKS
Load into MSFS, connect to VATSIM, press START. GSI detects your airport, builds its parking plan, and begins injecting statics progressively. Give it a few minutes; aircraft may shift or reappear while MSFS finalizes assignments. Wait until the app confirms spawning is complete before judging the result. After that, GSI runs quietly in the background: active near your departure and arrival airports, minimal during cruise. When done, press STOP so GSI can clean up before closing.
GSI uses your locally installed FSLTL Traffic Base as its model source. FSLTL is required and treated as read-only nothing in your Community folder is touched.
▸ HOW GSI PLACES AIRCRAFT
GSI reads the parking data embedded in the airport scenery by its developer, stand positions, sizes, headings, and the most important : airline codes and works within it. Forcing aircraft onto hardcoded coordinates would bypass native MSFS gate behavior and break jetway attachment, so keeping the simulator responsible for the final assignment is the only viable approach, now and going forward.
In practice, placement quality reflects scenery quality. A well-built airport with accurate stand data and realistic airline assignments will produce a coherent, believable apron. An airport where the developer left stand data incomplete, generic, or unassigned will naturally look that way too. GSI can mostly works well with what the scenery provides.
One known visual side effect: on arrival, jetways on nearby statics may appear detached. MSFS does not maintain jetway attachment for aircraft spawned outside the player's immediate proximity. This is a simulator limitation, not a GSI one, and does not affect your own gate or GSX handling. But we'll continue working to find a solution.
▸ GSX & SIMBRIEF INTEGRATION
With a SimBrief flight loaded through GSX, GSI detects your destination early and begins populating the arrival airport before you get there. GSX gate selection also protects your stand, if a static is parked there, GSI removes it and keeps it clear. GSI does not control GSX services, pushback, or jetways. It only reads the flight and gate context it needs.
Requires the MobiFlight Event Module in your Community folder.
▸ REQUIREMENTS & INSTALLATION
GSI is a standalone external app — do not place it inside the Community folder. Extract the zip into a dedicated folder, configure your paths, then launch GSI.
- Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024
- FSLTL Traffic Base : FBW Installer
- VATSIM / vPilot
- MobiFlight Event Module in community : https://mobiflight.com/download/
▸ PUBLIC BETA
GateStaticInjector has been in active development for several weeks and this first public release represents a stable, functional foundation, but not the finished vision. The core experience is ready to fly, and we know exactly where we want to take it next.
Planned for upcoming versions: dedicated airport profiles sharable by community for more accurate and faithful stand assignments, cargo and private jet support, and a more refined planning system, better control over airline mix, fleet concentration, spawn count relative to airport size, how GSI weighs which aircraft belong at which airport and more !
On the technical side, we are actively testing different ways to inject aircraft into the simulator, working to find the approach that gives us the most control over placement without fighting how MSFS is designed to work. It is an ongoing process, and we are not cutting corners to get there faster.
We are fully aware of the current limitations and none of that is lost on us. If you have experience with MSFS internals or injection methods and want to share insight, we are genuinely open to it.
If you fly with GSI and something looks off after the full injection cycle has completed, drop the airport ICAO, the scenery you are using, and what the final state looked like. That is the kind of feedback that actually moves things forward.
Enjoy :)
César.

It’s clearly listed as an fs24 tool because that’s what it was built and tested for, leaving a 1 star review just because a clearly listed MSFS 2024 addon doesn’t support a different simulator isn’t really feedback on the product.
It’s like if you're reviewing the PMDG 777 poorly because it isn’t an A320.
fs20 support isn’t just a switch I can turn on. It would need proper testing, compatibility work and long-term maintenance. I’d rather be clear about what’s actually supported than pretend it works everywhere and release something unstable.
Real feedbacks from people using the tool are always welcome ;)

And if both sims are really “practically the same”, then moving to fs24 should let you enjoy the add-on too.
GateStaticInjector for VATSIM
GateStaticInjector adds realistic static aircraft to empty gates at airports when flying on VATSIM in Microsoft Flight Simulator. It uses FSLTL models and airport scenery data to populate stands with cold-and-dark aircraft, increasing visual density without simulating movement or live AI traffic. The tool automatically removes static planes if a real VATSIM user requires a gate, ensuring seamless multiplayer integration. Integration with GSX and SimBrief allows for early gate preparation at destination airports and coordinated stand assignment.

The next update will focus on making parked aircraft feel more realistic and natural at each airport.
The aircraft mix will be improved so major hub airlines remain strongly represented, while secondary and foreign airlines should appear with better variety. The goal is to avoid airports feeling too repetitive, while still keeping a realistic balance.
A new density system is also planned, allowing users to choose how busy they want each airport to feel, while keeping the result realistic and balanced.
We are also working on:
- Minimize to tray support
- Better variation between airport types, time of day, and traffic patterns
- More realistic aircraft type distribution for each airline
- Investigating whether static aircraft can be spawned with sound
In future we'll implement cargo and private jet, for the airport types who requires it, and study about ivao mtl/aig compatibilty, but this is not our priority.
