    Beschreibung

    Cessna 172 M

This plane is built with MSFS2020 SDK and is a 2020 native plane.

It is currently mostly compatible with MSFS2024 as a legacy port, that is to say, without fancy new 2024 features.

There's a discussion thread on MSFS forums for this mod.

    Cessna 172 M you said ?

The Cessna 172M built from 1973 to 1976 is a classic Skyhawk known for simplicity, light handling, and excellent reliability. It uses a 150-hp Lycoming O-320-E2D engine, cruises around 105–110 knots, and has a maximum gross weight of about 2,300 lb. The M model is especially popular with flight schools thanks to its forgiving flight characteristics, straightforward systems, and strong reputation for durability.

    Community project

This mod started as a simple "what if..." in an open discussion in the MSFS forums.

Given the keen interest shown by many fans of the 172M and 172N, the project eventually took shape, thanks to numerous contributions (valuable information, references, photos) from everyone involved.

I received a lot of help for the flight model : kudos to Canadian Captain Moustache !

Overall, developing this module and continuously improving it as a community has been a very rewarding experience.

    What's in this mod ?

You'll get a new plane in the hangar : Cessna 172M

This mod is based on the C172SP from asobo, thanks to the to Games content usage rules.

    Features
    • With this mod you will have an ingame mod manual :
      • Click on the Help message on the panel, on the left of the PFD.

      • use menu (index/next/prev) to navigate in the help.
      • Click on the border of the message panel to close it.
    • You will get customizations directly from the cockpit with a handbook on pilot's left compartment storage
      • Accessible when you look down : "checklist01" camera : CTRL+6

      • Click on the book, you will get a page with clicable options (light is required in the cockpit)
      • Click on the spirals to stow it
    • Tablets, maps, checklists
    • Radio stacks
    • Chocks, tie downs, covers, GPU
    • opening doors and windows, passengers, cargo
    • optional wheels fairings or roof windows
    Liveries

A few liveries are included. They come from real C172M.

Existing Asobo as1000 or 172SP can be easily converted to this mod (most of the external parts are common)

    Compatibility

Audio sound packs : If you want to enable either Boris Audio Works (BAW) or ECHO19 sound pack, use this extra mod :

    https://www.bagolu.com/dl/bagolu-c172-m-externalsoundpack.zip (for BAW or ECHO19)

    • For BAW mod, you need to install the BAW mod on MSFS2020 and MSFS2024
    • For Echo19 mod, you need to install the MSFS2020 version on MSFS2020 AND MSFS2024 : but be aware they have the same name (rename them : x-echo19-skyhawk-fs20 & x-echo19-skyhawk-fs24 for ex.)

Recommended packages if you want to use these GPS units :

You may find incompatibility with mods that update default html library in MSFS. Please report them if it's the case.

    • Existing Cessna Skyhawk AS1000 LIVERIES are compatible but need to be converted for this mod
    • B78XH mod is reported to be cause side effects (it's true with other planes too)
    • All other mod modifying base files from fs-base (to change screens, panels, etc)

    CREDITS

A lot of the instruments were taken from Sal1800’s devkit on github. Opensource resources are not a common thing on MSFS, hats off to him !

Liveries thanks to Ann0v (for the 1st one)

I can’t name all the people without being sure not to forget ones : A BIG THANK YOU to all of you who are contributing to this project in your own way !

    Very nice, thank you 👍

At last the C172 with a GPU option. Something I have wished for for many years. This is now my goto aircraft. Big thank you for that 👍

I am not a developer but after a lot of Googling and head scratching I finally figured out how to convert my favourite livery addon designed for the default Asobo C172 (G1000) to work with this aircraft and merge it with my preferred interior of your C172-M 😊

I love this plane, but the only problem is that I'm having trouble trimming it. Am I the only one with this problem?

not enough trim effect or too much of it ?

This feels quite a lot better than the default 172! I computed a paper navlog using the real POH and the climb speeds, climb rate, and ground speeds were pretty close!

    A few things:

    1. Would it be possible to have the 2x27gal long range tanks?
    2. The 2020 Asobo G5's are virtually illegible. Is it possible to use Sal1800's improved G5's for 2024? https://flightsim.to/addon/104825/enhanced-garmin-g5-attachment
    3. The gauge faces are quite different from the real Cessna gauges of this era. One example: https://www.midislandair.com/flightschool/wp-content/uploads/N135E-INS.jpg. I would be very willing to help with updated artwork on these per sal1800's guide on github, let me know if interested.
    4. Probably a long shot, but is there any chance of using the GFC 500 AP?

You're not the 1st one to ask for the long range tanks and the enhanced G5. I'll have a look at that !

If you want to change the textures on the gauges, feel free to do it. I'd be glad to update them

The AP variant could be possible (I hope both units won't interfere together)

    Thanks for your feedback !

Let me see what I can cook up regarding the gauges!

First of all, I love this setup. The ability to change the cockpit avionics is awesome. Especially within the aircraft. What are the odds of being able to request a specific mod to the aircraft. My flight school has modified their fleet to G3x using the following equipment: GDU 460 (PFD), GDU 470 (MFD), G5, GMA 245R, GTN 650Xi, GNC 215 & GTX 345R.
Is their a way I can potentially modifiy this within the files. My goal, be able to practice things using the airplane config of the school.
They basically have the 650 as the brains and the PFD/MFD are used for radios, inputing transponder codes, moving map, ect.

Any information you have is appreciated.

    Thanks!!

You should start to mod the default C172 G1000 plane. It's closer to what you need

Any livery conversion tutorial for this aircraft? or a list of the names to replace in the .cfg's? Been awhile since I've done a conversion
    b
    bagoluAuthor

Tutorial would have to cover too many cases : liveries can be made including too much vital files of a plane mod (and break whenever one thing changes)

The minimal would be the line
    base_container = "..\bagolu-c172-m" in aircraft.cfg

You would have to get the content of a texture.cfg from an existing livery, for ex : https://flightsim.to/addon/108714/asobo-cessna-172-reims-4-colors-bagolu172m

How to find and download more liveries? 2020 liveries could work too?
And could you put the Garmin instruments in the middle (in the empty space) ?
    b
    bagoluAuthor

the middle part is the place for the MD41 that will be coming soon.
If you want to use C172SP/C172AS1000 liveries, they have to be converted but the textures will be the same, that's only renaming files and recompiling layout.
