Rico was once in the 70s one of the biggest private operators of DC-3s in the world. Stablished by a turkish immigrant who worked as aircraft mechanic and was nicknamed in the area as "Captain Mickey", the company has been a long lasting success to date, even becoming in the 90s and early 2000s a regional airline with scheduled flights.
Even though Rico was flying in the hot and umid amazon and brazilian lowlands, where the airports and support was extremely difficult, the operations held a really good safety records. Nowadays Rico still flies as a charter operator reaching the most remote locations of Brazil.
