A simple flight plan that has you taking off from Marathon in the Florida Keys and flying down to the Dry Tortugas to visit Fort Jefferson, the largest brick masonry structure in the Americas.  But before we get there, we will pass over some of the small Keys north of the main populated Keys.  When explorer Juan Ponce de Leon chartered the islands of the Keys in 1513, he called them Los Martires because he thought they resembled men in distress.  The more popular name, simply the Keys, is derived from the Spanish word Cayo, or small island.

Before we get to Fort Jefferson, we will visit the National Key Deer Refuge, Great White Heron National Wildlife Refuge, and several small Keys on our return legs before landing at Key West International Airport (KEYW).  This flight is approximately 170nm and should take just over an hour in a light twin.

In this file you will find two flightplans:

Fort Jefferson.pln - for those with default MSFS scenery

Fort and Lighthouse.pln - for those with fsdreamteam scenery which adds a leg out to the Loggerhead Lighthouse.

Also included is two readme files with detailed information on each waypoint to make your flight more interesting.

Mirage Executive Charters (VA) pilots, this is the files you need to February 2023 DOTM.  This flight plan was made for MEC pilots but is open to anyone whom wishes to download and fly.

Pictures are with fsdreamteam Key West scenery and Carenado C337.  MSFS has Fort Jefferson in scenery but not as detailed.
