Many years ago, the volcano blew and buried most of this island in hot, steaming cinders. ( In this scenery package, you can see the big mound where the cinders were eventually bulldozed out and piled.) Shortly after the eruption, a friend and I flew a Baron over from Keflavik and landed on the freshly carved emergency runway. Quite an experience -- the ground was still hot and the volcano was still muttering. Fifty years later, I bought this scenery package and am delighted. The town is rebuilt, the new airstrip is nicely set up, and the recovery is complete. This version of the place is a great little portrayal for a great price. If you fly in Iceland, you want this. If you do not normally fly in Iceland, you still want it. It's a unique and fun airstrip very well done. Five stars!

Hopefully you can see the pics I uploaded -- this is one of my very favorite places to fly and pairs wonderfully with the challenging and free Thridrangar lighthouse destination mod a short hop away (you can find it right here on flightsim.to). This mod is certainly very nice but as you can see from the pic, what I really appreciate about it is not so much all the extra details added but the fact that the preposterous undulating stock ramp has been leveled flat like a proper tarmac. I love it so much I ended up buying it twice as I lost my first copy in an OS crash.
