This is a 115-nm tour above the fertile fields and hills of Perth & Kinross (and Angus, but I wanted to keep the title succinct!). We begin at Scone (pronounced Scoon, as you know; EGPT), just north of Perth, Scotland’s former capital city, and fly clockwise back to origin. There are six airfields in addition to Scone if you have the RAF Errol add-on, five if not. I’ve included the flight plan in both MSFS (.pln) and Little Navmap (.lnmpln) formats.

The route from and to Scone takes us west across the River Tay, Scotland’s longest river, to East Lochlane (EGFV), just beyond Crieff.

From East Lochlane, we turn north and head for Blair Atholl (EGQI), at the foot of the Cairngorms, via Kenmore at the head of Loch Tay.

An eastbound heading brings us to Forfar Airstrip (EGYT) and then the nearby Arbroath Airport (EG11).

Turning back for home along the northern shores of the Tay, we stop at Dundee Airport (EGPN) and Errol (X6EL), the former RAF station.

Turning north, we fly over the deserted village of Pitmiddle, which was a settlement from the 12th century until its last inhabitant left in 1938. In 1691, around 250 people lived in the village. A sawmill once stood near today’s Guardswell Farm.

A short hop west brings us back to Scone.
