Highland Papua Bush Strip Collection
v2.0 Major update: 88 airstrips have been updated using a custom object library, called pbk-huts-n-stuff, which is included in the download section, 20 of the airstrips are not included in the flight sim. I've also used my pbk-effects library and windy-things library to breathe some life into the locations. The runways have been matched to the google earth terrain maps where possible.
v1.1 The completion of Phase #1. 89 Highland Papua airstrips, including 20 that aren't in the flight sim. The CSV has been updated as well. Time to start Phase #2
To update to this version please delete all folders included in the 1st release.
Background:
The Highland Papua mountain region is on the island of New Guinea to the West of the Indonesia and Papua New Guinea border. The current MSFS support in this region is marginal, to say the least; multiple airstrip are incorrectly named, a lot of them have duplicated names and even more of them are just fugly. Type 'Ubrub' into the World map search to see how bad it is in the default.
I've been using Goggle Earth and http://www.ourairports.com as a reference source to correct the names and locations of the airstrips.
A few notes:
NOTE: this project is not compatible with the old Kronsky mod on Flightsim.to. I've reached out to the developer but I'm not getting a response and based on the lack of updates I suspect the package has been abandoned.
I've also been told of the Wantok scenery mod for this region which is also incompatible with my scenery collection. I wasn't aware of it when I started this project so now you have two options to improve the region :)
If you spot any errors please let me know in the discord channel I've just set up.

FWIW I recommend using Addon linker and dropping all of the scenery folders into a top level folder called whatever you want, my master folder is called Highland Papua. Using Addon linker will let you turn the scenery on/off easily so it can be disabled when you are not flying in the region and it will make updating much easier,
To update to the latest downloaded version I would strongly recommend deleting all of existing folders and replacing them with the folders in the download. This will keep you upto date and avoid any clashes with any older versions I might of renamed or deleted.
You will find that some of the airports appear to be incorrectly named on the World map, that is a MSFS bug that has locked the airport name and icao code and even deleting the airport in my replacement airport doesn't change the name. LittleNavMap, if you use it, does show the corrected name.
To navigate to any of the air strips please use the ICAO code and not the airstrip name.
Included in the download is a LNM userpoint csv file that you can add to LNM to show each location. Please backup your LNM database first for safety and delete any of of the original Highland Papua airstrip entry to avoid duplication.
All the best and stay safe (ish)

Awesome! as all your scenaries
However in some airstrips during landing or take-off, at the middle of the airstrip, aircraft crash against something. Waiting for next update, I hope it is a known issue 😀

Great mod and thanks for taking the time to make bush flying awesome
This is is also not compatible with Wantok's western fix https://flightsim.to/file/37887/western-new-guinea-fixes.
I get black spots on map where the terrain has been modified it seems.
I'd love to be able to run both since he has some fixed to scenery that you don't and vice versa

Wanton's mod is for PNG, all of these strips are across the border in Indonesia.
EDIT My error, I knew he had done PNG I didn't realise he has done the western side of New Guinea as well.

I only had 87 airports after unzipping? I don't appear to have deleted any in error.

my error you will have 87 I mis-counted. The actual total is growing as I go through editing all the airstrips a second time :)

Great work, are their all airstrips included from older Single releases of you?
The 'older' single releases are all airstrips in Papua New Guinea. This new collection is across the border on the New Guinea island in Indonesia. So same island, same mountain range, different country. Kev

Thanks a lot for your work. This location are one of the best for bush and Native MFS is very poor. Seems that Asobo is planning an update for Papua New Guinea but it will neve compete with passionate simmers like you. Thanks again and waiting for your future work

I hope they do update the region but the latest Bing data is still full of holes in the satellite imagery, even Google Earth is struggling in the same areas.
