This folder contains a repaint for the Piper L-4 Grasshopper by Flightreplicas. This is Piper L-4J N1227N, which was built in June 1945 as c/n 13800, accepted by the US Army in July 1945 as 45-5060 and transferred to the PTO, flying in Saipan. It was sold to a Navy ensign in 1946 for $400. It was registered NC1227N as an J-3C-65. It went through several owners before being damaged in a storm in 1968, after which it was stored. Colin Powers bought it in 2011, who began a full restoration, the aircraft flying again in 2015. It was the prize in the 2016 EAA sweepstake, going to a new owner in Wisconsin. He has since sold it, and it is currently based at Breda Airport in the Netherlands with Egmond Vintage Wings (www.egmondvintagewings.com).  Repaint by Jan Kees Blom.

Note:

Some people report that my Piper Grasshopper paints are not working for them. Apparently there are two versions fort he Grasshopper in circulation, one on offer directly with Flight Replicas (where I bought it), and one available via the Marketplace.

If none of my Grasshopper paints work for you, then the problem is probably in the title of the airplane folder: For my version it says "FR_L-4H_Grasshopper_liaison", my guess is yours says " L-4_Aircraft_liaison".

 If you have this last version, the solution is relatively simple. You have to change two things in each repaint: Change one line in the aircraft.cfg, ànd one line in the texture.cfg, in both cases replacing "FR_L-4H_Grasshopper_liaison" with "L-4_aircraft_liaison" so that you get

base_container = "..\ L-4_Aircraft_liaison” in the aircraft.cfg file

and

"fallback.1=..\..\ L-4_Aircraft_liaison\texture.LD" in the texture.cfg file

Theoretically, the paints should show up then.

Sorry about this,

Jan Kees
