The Belgian Icon that never was
Over the years Brussels Airlines has created several Belgian Icons on their A320s celebrating Belgian celebrities, characters, events and teams. As of writing, there are 6 Belgian Icons flying around Europe today:
- Rackham - The Tintin plane
- Magritte - The famous painter
- Trident - The Red Devils - Belgian Football team
- Amare - The Tomorrowland plane
- Aerosmurf - The Smurf plane
- Bruegel - The famous painter
In 2017 the 5th Belgian Icon became the Smurfs plane, based on a selection by a jury and a popular vote. It was accompanied by a video.
The Smurfs plane did nothing for me, but in the video I saw another design that really triggered me: Marsupilami. Of course, this design did not win since the Smurfs are globally recognized, but I was a little sad that I would never get to see this Marsupilami plane fly.
UNTIL TODAY! You can now conquer the virtual skies with bright yellow Marsupilami plane. This is of course a fictional livery (duh) with a fictional registration. But from now, it shall be known as SN HOEBA! Enjoy
