This long bush trip will make you familiar with one of the most beautiful places on earth that many people don't think of. Namibia, a former German colony is today one of the most wealthy countries in southern Africa and offers the highest dunes, some of the biggest canyons worldwide and many airstrips for us bush pilots. There are some places in Namibia that will make you think like you're on Planet Mars or in a movie like Mad Max. If you already liked the Sierra Nevada bush trip by Asobo, than this is the perfect journey for you! And the default satellite image quality is very good.
Places you will visit on this Bushtrip among others:
- Etosha National Park Salt Lake
- the capital city "Windhoek"
- Namib Desert with Sossusvlei
- Atlantic coast with the cities of "Walvis Bay", "Swakopmund" and "Lüderitz"
- Fischfluss Canyon (second biggest canyon in the world)
- Oranje River
- several mining facilities as they are the main economic factor in Namibia.
Flight Length: 2695km
Flight Duration: 10:51h
Number of legs: 18
You will fly in a Diamond Aircraft DA40-Next Generation, which is perfect for sightseeing as it has a brilliant seamless, completely rounded window with almost no pillars hindering the view and it is small and light enough to land basically everywhere. Welcome aboard!!
For the perfect experience I recommend some scenery and improvement mods:
- FYWE Windhoek Eros by Viktoren69
- FYLZ Luderitz by Viktoren69
- FYWB Walvis Bay by Viktoren69
- FYKT Keetmanshoop by Viktoren69
- FYOA Ondangwa by Viktoren69
- FYOG Oranjemund by Viktoren69
INSTALLATION: Just download the .rar file, unzip it and drag and drop it into your MSFS community folder. You will then find the Bush Trip in the Activities -> Custom Content menu. Everything works just like the default bush trips.
A big thank you to the guys from BushMissionGen and Little Navmap for the easy way to create bush trips without having to be a coding genius by myself :)

Best bush trip ever! Everything works except the next waypoint indicator on the pilot's PFD, but the map on the co pilot's PFD has everything you need to go with the notes. Just flew the second last leg, man, that scenery and geology!

Hello and thank you for your comment! :) If you want the waypoints back on your pfd you need to manually set a direct to the upcoming waypoint, for example type in "POI 23" and the route will be back on the display and NAV mode also works again. If you liked this bush trip, you will also like my South Africa bush trip which is like the second part of this Namibia journey.

I think you need to set a hotkey for refueling in the controls settings menu. There you will find the option for refueling.

It's almost trolling ruining the evaluation of this wonderful bush trip scenario because of simple error or one's own mistake...

If your last leg began at night, and it's impossible to fly in the dark you can change the time in the save file :
MSFS/localstate/mission/activities/name of mission/name and number of the last leg
Then open the .FLT file (ASCII file) : look after the [DateTimeSeason] and change the hour (example : 08)
Then save the file

Hello xiand,
unfortunately I don't know how to fix this and it also happens on one of my next bushtrips I wanted to upload but now I am also stuck by this issue. Since everything worked well a few months ago I think that this is either a bug caused by Asobo as they also messed up the Nav Mode on bush trip missions for people who prefer using the autopilot and the sim and world updates seem to bring more new bugs than fixes or something is wrong with BushMissionGen which I use to create the bush trips. Or I did something wrong but I dont know what I could have done wrong because I didn't change anything. And if I try to change the time in the config file nothing happens... I searched the web and saw that other people seem to have similar issues even on the default bush trips made by Asobo:
https://www.reddit.com/r/flightsim/comments/nc1chn/msfs_2020_bush_trip_southern_france_at_night/
I have no idea what triggers this bug but I am afraid that I can't do anything to fix this and we need to wait for Asobo to fix it. I will tell you if I find something else to get rid of this thing.

Completed the first leg, landed on the correct runway, complete stop and parking brake applied, but completion still didn't register. Now when I restart or want to continue, I spawn at the first leg airstrip, flight plan and navlog gone...
Okay first please make 100% sure that you landed on the correct airport since there are so many airstrips in that area because it works for me and the other users. It's this one: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Ongava+Lodge+Airstrip/@-19.3290288,15.911895,1622m/data=!3m2!1e3!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x1b8d0d68c56531d9:0x501197f8d27e1bb7!8m2!3d-19.3290339!4d15.9140837 If you land on this airstrip and still dont get the completion you can try to taxi to other parts of the runway, stop there and wait. This should do the job since the game sometimes only accepts the leg completion if you stand in a certain area of the airport which is sometimes smaller than the airport/runway itself. I think thats the issue you have experienced. Usually you dont even need to set the parking brake and it works. I mostly touch down and immediately break until the plane comes to a stop but I also had this problem when I did the Asobo Sierra Nevada trip where I had to move about the airport a few time to get the right spot where the game recognized my leg completion.
The bug with the missing flight plan after restart is a bug from Asobo which is affecting every Bush Trip since Sim Update 5 even the default ones. The flightplan always dissappears either after a restart of a leg or if you go back to the main menu or restart the game and then continue the trip. So we have to wait either for the World Update fixes or even the Sim Update 6 until this will work again.
