Louveciennes is a French commune located in the department of Yvelines in the region Ile-de-France in the western suburbs of Paris.
The municipal territory is characterized by a strong presence of natural spaces linked to the historical past of the city (several castles) but also to its many wooded parks and wooded areas (Louveciennes woods, national forest of Marly, presidential hunting reserve). Urbanization is concentrated along the axes of circulation and in particular the railway line.
The "awakening" of Louveciennes occured during the 17th century, when Louis XIV moved his court to Versailles and built the castle of Marly. From 1681 to 1684 , the construction of the Marly machine turned the daily life of the village upside down: the waters of the Seine, drawn from Bougival , were brought up in pipes across the municipal area to the aqueduct built on its heights. A number of castles were then built in area.
This pack does NOT contain a full photogrammetry extract of the city in order to keep acceptable size and performances for lower configurations. It contains the following mods:
-Aqueduc de Marly: L'Aqueduc de Louveciennes, sometimes called Aqueduc de Marly is an aqueduct built in the 17th century under the reign of Louis XIV, located in Louveciennes Now out of service, the aqueduct has been listed as a Monument historique since 1953. It was a part of the hydraulic network intended to provide water for the Château de Marly and the Gardens of Versailles from the Seine river, using a huge pump called the Machine de Marly.
The aqueduct consists of 36 arches. Its length is 643m for a width varying from 2 to 4.4m, and a height from 10 to 20 metres. It was built by Jules Hardouin-Mansard, then Robert de Cotte, from 1681 to 1685. A monumental machine, called the machine de Marly, situated on the Seine river at Bougival, pumped water out of the river with the help of 14 paddle wheels.
The aqueduct was retired from service in 1866 and replaced by underground pipes.
The aqueduct comes with its own POI.
-Château Louis XIV: The Château Louis XIV has been built between 2008 and 2011 by Emad Khashoggi's property development company COGEMAD, using traditional craftsmanship techniques and materials. Located between Versailles and Marly-le-Roi on a 23-hectare (57-acre) walled site, the property is surrounded by moats and has a constructed surface area of 7,000 m2. The property pays various tributes to king Louis XIV and stands on a land which once formed part of the Versailles estate.
Khashoggi had previously restored the Palais Rose in Le Vésinet and the Château du Verduron in Marly-le-Roi. The Chateau Louis XIV was built on the site of the former Chateau du Camp in Louveciennes, with the aim of building a modern house, with hi-tech controls incorporated within a 17th-century aspect, layout, and materials.
In 2015, the chateau was purchased by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman for US$301 million, a world record for a residential property.
-Chateau de Madame du Barry: The Château de Madame du Barry, sometimes called Château de Louveciennes is an approximately cubic construction, of average size and modest appearance, which borders the rue de la Machine, a favourite subject of the Impressionists Camille Pissarro and Alfred Sisley.
Built at the end of 17th century,it was then expanded and redecorated by Ange-Jacques Gabriel for Madame du Barry in the 18th century.
This mod is completed by the Pavillon de Musique, dominating the Seine valley and the Pavillon du Barry at the corner of rue de la Machine and rue de la Princesse.
-Château de Voisins: The Château de Voisins is a neoclassical mansion designed on an "H" plan, with the two extending wings joined by an open loggia on the southern entrance facade, and on the northern garden facade by an orangery. It was originally built in 17th century and remodeled circa 1820. The château has been registered as an historic monument since 10 February 1948.
-Château des Sources: The Château des Sources was built in the late 17th century and was the residence of famous painter Elisabeth Vigée Le Brun. It was rebuilt in its current form by the Thélier family in 1868. In 1965, the park of the castle was subdivided and is now occupied by the Dauphine residence made up of 7 small luxury buildings.
