  • Version 3.1 September 20, 2021

Rebuilt using the latest SDK. Marked as Compatible with Sim Update 5.

  • Version 3.0 May 15, 2021

Added the second and current Albert Bridge (the first Albert Bridge was in the same place and was destroyed by floods in 1893, the replacement bridge looks different from the original but retains the same name).

The third custom model for this bridge addon, there are a lot of old photos of the current Albert Bridge, so you would think it would be easier to replicate in Blender than the Indooroopilly Railway Bridge. However it's not as straight forward a design as the Indooroopilly Railway Bridge and even though I knew it was going to take longer to finish, it took longer than I wanted.

The bad news is; I'm not 100% happy with how this particular bridge has turned out. This was an incredibly fiddly bridge to build. There are more than a few comprimises I've had to make, and given my amateur skill level in Blender this is as close to looking like the real thing as I can get it. I think the real bridge arches a little more, and there are many more intricacies that would require me to remake whole sections, which I really don't want to do. When you're only working with photos and no measurements there are going to be comprimises.

The good news is; unless you're looking for these comprimises, it's unlikely you'd even notice them. Maybe it's because I get up close and personal to these bridge models of mine that I know every spot I had to cut corners, but you should be flying past in a plane. These custom models of mine are merely ground scenery for a flight simulator and that's why I'm releasing this bridge now. I may not be 100% happy with it, but it's close enough.

A building has been demolished in preperation for [REDACTED].

  • Version 2.1 April 27, 2021

Solved some shiny texture issues for surfaces that shouldn't be shiny on the Indooroopilly Railway Bridge.

  • Version 2.0 April 26, 2021

Added the Indooroopilly Railway Bridge, the only unnamed bridge of the 4 which opened in 1957.

Another custom model of mine, this was more difficult to build because there are not many detailed photos of the bridge. It's position between the Walter Taylor and Albert Bridges makes it hard to find good photos of it without the other bridges obscuring parts of it. However its parallel chord truss design style is simple to replicate in Blender. Most of the additional detail I've added has come from looking at Google Street view from the Walter Taylor bridge and some guess work. Its basic look in game is pretty much the same as it's real life counterpart, but it will not have have the same level of detail due to the lack of photos. Not ideal, but it's pretty much all I had to work with.

  • Version 1.1 April 21, 2021

Fixed some misaligned objects I found at the Indooroopilly end of the Walter Taylor Bridge. Added additional details to the Indooroopilly Pylon too.

Still working on the next bridge, but had to fix some issues I found in game that don't show up in Blender.

Just an update on the next major version: The Albert Bridge.

Real-life has been eating up a lot of my spare time in the last week and a bit. The next bridge is progressing, but much more slowly than I would like (I've even got a test model built for the Jack Pesch Bridge going on as well). Fret not, real-life should give way to spare time soon-ish and I'll get back to working on the last two bridges, plus a something else related to the bridges.
Any chance you can put the shopping centre back that vanished after the update, thanks
Talented thank you
Nice one, more Brisbane love.
Thanks for this. I used to drive across this every week. It's not even on the ORBX Brisbane scenery.
Outstanding add on! BTW, I searched, and found a great article about it: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-08-29/curious-brisbane-living-inside-the-walter-taylor-bridge/9986992
